Its looking pretty good, although the lighting is way overblown. everything looks nice. you can also use render layers to render your lights. and fix things in post with photoshop or whatever image program use yous.
What version of Maya are you working in? _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT
set shadow opacity a little higher. Shadows are never completely black _________________ Criticizing n00bs is like booing at the special olympics. QUICK_EDIT
add a very very very slight layer of dust on everything, just so it doesn't look like it's in a vacuum, that's what always takes the realism away from 3d renders for me...
and maybe some extremely subtle creasing on the seats of the chairs. just for that little touch of imperfection that makes it look real. _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT
yea, depends though, on certain things like arch. renderings want a immaculate look. to sell your idea..
. to make it more lively..or "real" add in like magazines or stuff on the table.. or other things that show people have been there. because I get a feeling its late afternoon, its some business and its closed. like some waiting area or lobby.
yea depending on the material, but most shaders should have bump maps. even ever so lightly..maybe some exceptions..depending. _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT
first off, i'm using Maya 2008 x64 and rendering using mental ray.
i've only been using Maya for maybe a month, so i'm still learning alot especially when it comes to materials and lights, simply because maya and mental ray is a very different setup from 3DS Max and VRay. i'm also trying to focus on using procedural materials because i haven't yet learned how to properly unwrap UVs within Maya so that i can use more complex textures, bump maps, and displacement maps.
this is still an early render, so the lighting is still being tweaked. the objective is for the lighting to simulate the sun lighting the room, and the best i could do was an ambient light far away from the rest of the scene so that the rays would be as straight as possible. if anybody knows of a better way to do this in maya it would be greatly appreciated.
the material for the furniture is meant to be creaseless, which is why there are none present. as for dust, i once again have not heard of a way to accomplish this within maya, so if anyone knows of a way to do this it would be greatly appreciated.
the shadows do suck, and this i blame on mental ray simply because shadows were never a problem with VRay, so i will ask once again if anyone knows how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks for the comments and the input, it really is appreciated and i am looking forward to your suggestions and future input _________________
