Another one concerning Composite Structures
Subject description: the almighty Obelisk to be exact
I've made four Obelisks build with my special Tech Center. They build fine but don't fire. I had them firing before but now for some reason they don't.
I think I need to give my eyes a rest from 'code' for a bit.
Anyways, I thought everything was fine (minus the not firing problem but I can figure that one), but when one of my Obelisks is destroyed, it rebuilds and then is no longer selectable.
I built the Obelisks attributes into a laser turret's xml. I copied all requisite modelsstates and animations, the laser animations, gave it it's (new) weapon. Ive come to end of my rope. If you only knew how long Ive been sitting in front of my computer trying to make this silly thing die and then be reborn... It's silly.
So, I thought it may've been the animation, right? so I ammend the die animations to avail. I also deleted them entirely, which made it look like they were coming back (being rebuilt) but they are still not selectable. Thats pretty much where Im at now in the grand scheme of things I guess. I just need to be able to select them.
Interestingly, if I omit the REPAIRING_DISABLED animation from the TechObelisk's xml it will just lay in pile of rubble and smolder. Also, if I leave in the DYING model state it will do the same thing.
Can anyone point in the, uh... ya know right direction? ...yea...
um.. any direction really. I don't have the slightest clue where to go next.
<edit> I've figured it out. This was a toughy. Had to do with several tags that all had to be set a specific way. The one that did the trick was SlaveUpdate being present and setting the value in <InitiateRepairDie> <Die> to "SUICIDED". DeathTypes must be set to "ALL".
I also found a few mistakes in the animation that had to reflect the Obelisk instead of the laser turret (which was the template I used to copy the composite structure info from)
Sorry for posting and then editing it with the answer but I worked on it for two straight days and just wanted an extra pair of eyes to help me out.</edit> QUICK_EDIT
