Greetings everyone! Recently we've released the latest version of the Keating Konflict, a mod for Yuri's Revenge using RockPatch (which is included in the zip). Admittably, the Keating Konflict started with very "noobish" beginnings. One and half years ago, we released a 100MB RA2 release, that was rejected by both Revora and PPM. Now, under Yuri's Revenge (and a 7MB download), the game has been entirely rebuilt from scratch. Unit lists, storyline, economies, atmosphere and so on have all been replaced. God willing, this superior release will appeal to all of your high standards.

To better describe the game, here's some screenshots for you.

Here a G.R.A.I.L. AI-controlled incendiary airstrike is fired against some Eagle Enterprise land mines which have been placed around a construction yard to prevent engineer capture. The airstrike revealed over half of the land mines that had been deployed.

Here a small AI G.R.A.I.L. force is defending a Supply Dump, the source of resources in the Keating Konflict. Annoyingly my Supply Trucks are being harassed by the Tractor Beam.

This is a screenshot of an undisturbed AI base. Notice that Helipads spawn free helicopters and Component Towers do not require upgrading. Also notice that most buildings (power plants, anti-air) are larger.

This is a Black Eagle Guild position, surrounding a Supply Dump. The Dark Missile Batteries are key to a Black Eagle Guild strategy.

Be sure to check out more screenshots, unit lists and the download itself at our website, http://konflux.cncguild.net/. Thank you for your time and patience!

no offense but Im not seeing much new here except for the fact that a lot of things have sam turrets and such, and a couple new units. I think you might need to work some more on this mate.

I thank you for your honest and fair comments.

Both of you have clearly highlighted a major focus of this release. As the only one able to code, draw graphics, maps and so on for the Keating Konflict, I have been forced to focus on gameplay instead of graphics. The release that you see here is a snapshot of the gameplay of the Keating Konflict, in the prayer that the graphics shall one day, God willing, follow.

I know that the screenshots do not show anything extremely new, as it is the gameplay that we have worked on for the past months. We could have remade the "n00b mod" all over again, but for people like you, I chose against it and built good, solid gameplay.

So please, if you are not impressed by the screenshots, check out the unit lists and make up your mind with a more informed opinion.

Thank you all for your time and valid comments.

I agree, and thus I compare all other commercial games and mods to my own. I have given some our QA people the leading competitor mods for comparison, and they all reported that the Keating Konflict was a very good game.

While the above statements are a matter of opinion, we also agree that graphics play an integral role in the promotion of a game. For instance, it is certain that any prospective artists must like the Keating Konflict before they would decide to make any graphics. Understandably, this paradoxical situation creates a problem. If no variant and new screenshots were available, most artists would not be so keen to pick up the mod.

While I am learning, I have not developed sufficient artistic skill in order to create graphics. The solution lies with you. I know that it is weird to download a strange, alien modification with little screenshots to prove its worth. I know that you require assurance that the game is worth your while. All I can give is my assurance that the Keating Konflict is worth the 7MB download. If you believe that I have been incorrect in this assurance after playing the game for yourself, then I humbly apologise for any inconvenience that I may have caused.

well yes screenshots do not necessarily show gameplay at all. Im sure there are some decent things about this mod that have been overlooked and all. All mods have started with some interesting beginnings and are not exactly perfect either. I wish you the best of luck.

Well since there hadn't been any activity for a little while, here's a post of some more screenshots for all of you nice people. I have strived to put extra effort into these ones and describe the gameplay in greater detail.

-

The Remnant Allies are the "standard" Konflict faction, and are great for those who are new to the game. Here we can see some Abrams Heavy Tanks and some Navy SEALs fending off some Light Tanks.

Another faction in the Keating Konflict is the G.R.A.I.L., and they are one of the most powerful and unique, specialising in air strikes, missile weaponry, gravity control and garrisoning. The I.F.V., pictured below, is one of the G.R.A.I.L.'s most potent vehicles. Although fragile, a small group such as this one was able to destroy a whole base and have enough forces left over to destroy another base's Construction Yard. They are the best unit for protecting infantry against Snipers, and Sniper I.F.Vs. become very powerful. Personally, I prefer Griffin Troops and Flamethrowers.

The third faction in the Keating Konflict is the Eagle Enterprises. They are specialists in advanced technologies such as earthquake control, missile weaponry, Spectral energy and drill weaponry. Spectral technology, which is a combination of light and heat at a 2:1 ratio, takes many different forms within the Enterprise, from specialist infantry to defences to deployable vehicles to naval bombardment. Pictured below is the Spectral Mirror, a weapon that absorbs nearby Spectral energy and harnesses it as an attack. When undeployed, the unit is unarmed but immune to all friendly and hostile Spectral fire, causing the "splits" of the attacks to hit nearby objects. When deployed, the unit converts into a powerful defence of which its attack power can be increased by nearby Spectral Infantry.
(Undeployed)

(Deployed)

Rocket Drones are the mainstay of the Enterprise air forces, and are effective at both attack and defence. Here some Rocket Drones are attacking a G.R.A.I.L. air strike. They are the most effective anti-air unit in the entire game, excluding SAM sites and ships. Although fragile, they are very powerful.

An example of Enterprise Drill weaponry is the Hull Breaker Tank, which fires parasitic drills which bore into targets at a rapid rate. Hull Breaker Tanks are fun units for harassing enemy forces. Although useless against structures and next to useless against infantry, the Hull Breaker Tanks can eliminate enemy vehicles very rapidly. Using them to attack Supply Trucks is a very good idea.

Another example is the Drill Transponder that is the most valuable weapon in this defence. Instead of firing drills into targets, the Drill Transponder acts as a small computer station that coordinates underground drilling machinery. It is extremely effective against infantry and structures and acts as the Enterprise siege weapon.

Despite all of the above technology, the most interesting feature of the Eagle Enterprises is the Black Eagle Guild. Created to handle the darker Enterprise activities, they specialise in highly effective infantry units and defences. But budding Black Eagle Guild players beware: the Guild is under the control of a malignant AI that has little understanding of concepts such as trust and imagination. A base under the Black Eagle Guild's influence is no longer able to produce any Enterprise structures! Is the infantry and defence boost worth the cost? Only one thing is certain: you can certainly feel the presence of Black Eagle Guild infantry when you see them!
