Since the german translation for CnC3/KW is a bit... strange, I decided to fix some of the mistranslation and make a small mod.

The problem is that I need a csf editor, but I cant find a good one :/
Or, to be more accurate: I found 3, but all had different bugs:

Generals Editor => created an endless number of error messages when opening a csf

csfedit => Worked, but it deletes parts from long csf entries, making it kinda useless (it ruins the entire IDB and a lot of description) and it seems to create random erros when saving

XXC-Mixer => Displays all strings perfekt, but I cant get the search function to work, and looking into hundreds of entries to replace some names seems to be a bit to much... Sad

So does anyone know a working editor that a) doesnt screw up long entries AND b) has a search function? Question

Have you tried Turbo String Editor?

Nope, never heard of that one (and google only finds some russian sites).

Now I am using csfedit to find the string entries & RA2StrEdit to edit them.. takes some time, but better than nothing #Tongue

Yeah I had the same problem with C&C Generals string editors

They all sucked or had some sort of bug like the ones you mentioned

XCC had some sort of annoying stringname UPPERCASE becomming LOWERCASE formating bug and that other one you mentioned could not handle long strings without cutting them of and displaying wierd characters and some other editors if I tested more had also some sort of problem.

My solution to the Sting editor CRAP! for C&C Generals ZH was to get me a "Generals.str" file that you put directly into the Data folder of C&C Generals ZeroHour

The Generals.str file can be edited with notepad/Wordpad and loos like this inside as an example from my Generals.str:

Code:
ACADEMY:AlternateMouseInterface
"One new addition is the 'Alternate Mouse Interface' option located in the Options Menu. If you are used to commanding armies using right click as your action button then this may help you get a better handle on your army"
END

ACADEMY:BuildAHero
"Jarmen Kell, Col. Burton and Black Lotus can be invaluable to your strategy. These heroes can turn the tide of a battle and are invisible to the enemy. To locate your hero on the radar, look for the cross hair icon. Though you can only build one at a time don't underestimate their importance"
END

ACADEMY:BuildAllStructures
"When you're on the battlefield it's important to utilize all the tools available to you, General. Make sure you build all the structures. You must maintain a strong military force"
END

I dont know if C&C3/KW supports any .str file as im not modding C&C3/KW but its worth looking into becaus the Generals.str owns Generals.csf bigtime Laughing

(Notepad/Wordpad has search function) Very Happy
