Believe it or not! Community News!
Subject description: Covering the first day of april! Errr.. that doesn't sound much reliable.
Hello everyone! I'm sorry I have not been very active with the news. I've actually been unable to cover the news recently in a proper way, because university is increasing the pressure (two extremely hard tests next week and some annoying physics homeworks) and Kane's Wrath consumed my remaining free time, afterall, I a human. Anyway, there is a lot of things going on and unfortunatelly, I did not have time to prepare a prank for today. You know? April's first is one of the most fun days for any webmaster. And you have to keep your eyes opened, since you can be fooled by maniacs who totally changed their websites or even those who decided to charge for their tools (*cough* I did that on 2006 *cough*).
So, today, I'm sad to announce that I'll no longer work on the OS BIG Editor! You know? What a waste of time, since Final BIG does the job and newer games doesn't need it anymore, because of this XML crap. I think UAW allows you to run all XML files without placing them on .MEG files, which renders OS BIG Editor useless for that as well. Unfortunately, UAW won't sell in Brazil and I don't like buying games electronically. It's expensive and you need to print the manual and rip the CD. It sucks.
And there are some other news, which... some may be true and some others, are prank. It's up to you to figure out which ones are really true. Are you ready? So, here we go:
Open Map Competition 4's top 2 submissions, Wind Of Deslation (from JBV3737) and KB Corrupted State (from King Base) will be featured on Kane's Wrath's next patch! You heard it! Fans are actually adding high quality non-symmetrical maps into the latest C&C game!
Barstep Studios is the new name from Derelict Studios, that is now under control of Phoib's girlfriend. And she has decided to make the place a bit more feminist as well. The mod Wubkrieg (knew as Blitzkrieg II: The Finest Hour) has pink panthers. And there is the mod An Act Of Love (instead of An Act Of War). And some other interesting things as well. I'm loving this thing already, it's so cute! Phear the hello kitty!
Planet EA is the evolution of the old Planet CnC and should cover The Sims now as well! Because Command & Conquer is not enough.
The soviets come in peace! At least this is what CommandAndConquer.com says, when they show the new logo from the soviet empire! For me they come in 'peace through power!', but that would be in the name of Kane!
CNCNZ.com will no longer have the LiveWire. According to Sonic, the format of the program was obsolette. They are either going to change it or scrap the whole thing. Things are uncertain at the moment, but there is no Livewire for march.
Command & Conquer Filefront will go offline in the end of the month. The site staff received the following email from the FileFront head honchos:
Quote:
Dear C&C-Files Staff,
Your site has been hitting as one of the highest in the network for a couple years now, and I would like to thank you on a job well done. Although your site performs extremely well, it is not one of the best run sites on the network. This gets me to the point, Command and Conquer is an aging game now, and EA seems to be making more and more games for it. This influx of similar games will cause the series to become boring and dull to the average player. We cannot run a site like this.
C&C-Files also has a very large file size, and since the network has recently run out of space, this cannot be tolerated. Instead, we will be deleting your site to make way for Starcraft 2 Files. Our estimates project that the fan base for Starcraft 2 will be three to one. These are odds wroth investing in.
Again, I'm sorry for this unforeseeable change of events. The site deleting process will begin at the end April 2008.
And bye bye gangstas! Have a sweet 2008, with all love and happiness in the world!
And do you believe any of this? I'll tell ya: two of them are actually correct. All others are aprils fools prank. I'll post the answer in some hours, if nobody post them before. And have a nice day!

Livewire & OMC4
Winner!!!!
So, in short:
OS BIG Editor: Desesperate April's Fools prank. I'll continue to work on that whenever I have time.
OMC4: This is true. APOC has confirmed that the top 2 maps will be in the next KW's patch.
Barstep: This is a very funny prank, but kinda obvious. It is umbelievable that people actually believed that it was true. I prefer to think that there was some sarcasm on few posts above.
Planet EA: Of course it is a prank. Planet CnC already became Planet Battle For Middle Earth and suffered some other transformations during the past years aprils fools.
Soviet Flag: Also, of course it is a prank, although it is the first one I see from EA. Very funny flag indeed. Romanov must be proud!
LiveWire: This one is true. Sonic canceled the march edition because it was too much work to talk about the news that was already posted in their site. They'll probably do something different.
C&C FileFront: Of course this is an april's fools prank. No site announces a real closure on april 1st, neither in the previous day or following day.
@pd: a day in the internet may have up to 47 hours and 59 minutes (and 59 seconds) . It just depends on what is more convenient for you. Last edited by Banshee on Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:48 pm; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT
