It has a kind of surreal effect... I like it. It won't lag up the game; if your system can't handle some brightness in a 2d game, get it upgraded.

SOME! thats an understatement, to get these effects it takes a very long time as you have to have lots and lots of lamp posts to get this effect and get it looking goood (try simply adding 3 or 4 lamp posts to a very dark map an u will see what i mean) they have to perfectly merge into one another otherwise i u get really crappy cell effects and well u will see what i mean

btw it wont lag up the game, its the Alpha Lamp posts that lag up the game and particle systems mainly (gas, glowing and sparks) etc

Very nice work SMIFF, and I love what you did with the trees. This is an original map, right? Not just one that you've applied lighting to?

In any case, the lighting is great.

I know ive already answered this (on MSN) but for the benifit of everyone else

This is actually the infamous e32 map, the earliest map known for RA2 and was that early infact it didnt work on the release version of RA2 as the map system was that different

It has been converted and cleaned up for TS though (this is quite a time consuming process of replacing all the LAT's as they are mixed up from what they should be
e.g. Rough lat should be rocky lat etc
once that was done (which seamen did most of), i added all little feature like a couple of small triggers buildings and finally the lighting which took a long time too look right

heres another nice screenie showing a fully revealed mini-map and the bridge head which has a nice eiree feeling me thinks Wink

You could try lowering the level= value in the lighing section of the map... now you're getting huge differences in lighing even with one-tile height differences....

Yea, it's kinda funny how he singlehandedly rounded up a team of some of the greatest modders around. FS, the voxel god Wink, SeaMan, who's good at just about anything, especially AI, Spiderman, the awesome building artist, and myself, not to brag, but I do seem to be one of the only mappers left who tries to make realistic looking maps, and I know I'm the only TS infantry maker left.

Well, have you seen the last Nod Firestorm video? Look closely at the soldiers behind Slavik... I figure, Slavik would be guarded by his Elite Cadre, wouldn't he?

FM, sure we can swap pics. Anytime you feel like it. My details are on my site. There is a link in my siggy, just click on the banner. Very Happy

if u ever re-do the Cyborg please tell me

that is the one infantry unit in TS that i think looks really crap

especially compared to how good it could have looked when u see the cyborg in hte FMV

and when its fires , its arm magically turns into a stupid looking tube

anyway great infantry Dark_Elf

the Cyborg commando is one of the only units un-changed from the beta version of TS

The unused Chem Spray inf is another

the beta infantry all look better in my opinion, more realistic looking and more in proportion

the later units that WW made are moving into the lines of comic strip like units, as in RA2 ( i think the Cyborg is the best *or should i say worst* example of this)

Now that you're saying, they indeed look a bit comic especially disc thrower.. the rocket infantry looks ok though..

btw i thing the engineer looks even worse than the cyborg. it's just a yellow blob with a suitcase or something..

light infantry? It's worse than any infantry that was in C&C95.. really... Cyborg Commando is really the best of all..

but en masse, light infantry can be quite useful.

it just they get slaughtered too easily by too many things.

Guess what? I am redoing the TS cyborg(told you Smiff Wink) and my elite cadre is up for download. As well, the other infantry will never look the same again, once I am finished with them.
