This small fix will improve some of the TD sidebar unit icons which contain minor errors. For example, the Temperate and Winter version of the Commando icon, or the Desert version of the Advanced Guard Tower icon used wrong palettes, and some colors ended messed up. Another thing is the Engineer icon which seems to have the lower part (upon which the text is imposed) borrowed directly from the RA Engineer. Some other icons seem to have undergone a change of text or text alignment when portions of text and background were deleted and replaced by a single-color background.

I created the new icons using my TD blank icons pack.

The fix is, of course, absolutely optional, especially since some changes are not very obvious. I, however, found the original temperate Commando icon much uglier than its Desert counterpart when I was playing the Dino missions.

hmm... subtle, bot good.

I don't like your AGT and APP ones though.

The AGT's side's colour changes way too much and what you "cleaned up" in the background are actually details that make the mountain range look nicer.

The advanced power plant text part is a bit modified, but not for the better IMO.

Um, I didn't "clean" anything, I just changed the palette. You're probably talking about this difference between the AGT icons.

BTW, I forgot to mention that the fix alters only some of the terrain-specific icons. In case of the AGT icon, I edited the desert theater version. If you look at the original desert AGT icon in XCC Mixer, it'll show the version on the left (on the screenshot) if you select desert.pal and the version on the right if you use temperat.pal. It is of no surprise that the latter looks like the normal temperate/winter theater AGT icon.

Same happens with the Commando icon, but vice versa: the desert one is correct, while the temperate one still uses the desert palette, hence scrapped colors.

Well, I used the original image (the DOS manual scan, made by you, if I'm not mistaken Wink) to re-create the background. Otherwise it was just a monotonous dark color behind the text.

Hm, I see you also updated the SSM icon a bit Smile

Anyway, after some careful research I concluded that they are definitely worth adding to C&C95 v1.06 Wink

It would've be handy to have em as separate files though instead of this updater thingy.
