newbie questions

excuse me, but here are some issues:

1. I don't know which colors in which palettes are the remappable ones;
2. what difference does it make if it's coloured soviet or allied? after all, the colour is remappable, right?
3. can't I use another view for editing (other than back) ?
4. I would like to actually see the result of my editing in real-time, like in the 3d view, but with a zoom factor; I can't see much difference if I change the colours or even if I add pixels, as it can be seen from the far away 3d view.

1. The red ones in the left (#16 - #31).
2. The soviet and allied colours are not remappable.
3. Yes, you can. Double click the top and side views (the blue part with the name of the view)
4. Right click the 3D view and move your mouse up and down without dropping the mouse.
