C&C Community Round Up!
Subject description: Bringing the old news to the table. (Covering 23/05/2008)
Hello everyone! I'd like to apologise once again for the silence in our site, because it is being hard for me to conciliate my offline with my online activities. Anyway, there were a lot of interesting news in this month that I couldn't give enough attention here, so it is time to bring them up.
The Big Beast (err. I mean, News):
Nyerguds has published an updated version of his High-Res Patch for C&C 95. Check out this forum thread to grab it.
Quote:
This totally rewritten patch allows you to switch C&C95 to 1024x768 resolution and back without needing any additional tools. The game will read the resolution setting straight out of the game's original configuration file on startup, and adjust the game resolution accordingly. The config file can be edited with the updated configuration tool, which is included in the pack.
This also means that, unlike in the older patch, you can still play the game in its normal resolution, even after installing this.
Note: I am discontinuing all support for the older hi-res patches, and will not make any more patches that give resolutions higher than 1024x768, because it has come to my attention that missions which are smaller than the resolution on which you play crash the game when you build a communications center and the game tries to display a radar minimap.
In 1024x768, this only happens on the missions that are too low-tech to build a communications center, so there is no problem.
Official C&C News:
-> Red Alert 3 Website has been relaunched and, surprisingly, non-flashy at all. It loads fast, has a good amount of screenshots, movies, the premier blogs and.. what so far looks like updated news. The premier who blogs in the site is the executive producer of the game, Chris Corry.
-> At APOC's Corner, I had some good giggles with CommanderT's challenge video to APOC. Their battle should go online with the next Battlecast Primetime.
And we've discussed the following topics: No C&C3 Second Expansion, Apoc's Corner Blog, DRM protection, The stupid match between Raj and Dave, and feedback on the Official C&C Site (which honestly, I've dismissed that one).
-> GameReplays's guru YkudzA was in the soviet bunker with the EA LA development team and he could see Red Alert 3 in action. He reported what he's seen at RedAlert3.Su, but the english version of it can be found at The RA3 portal from GameReplays. But it is worth checking the russian article as well, for the many pictures that they've took from it.
-> CnC Communications Center is back online with a new and cool looking Tiberian Dawn layout. They've coded their own version of Westwood Chat program to support Sole Survivor matches. Check out this topic for more information on how to play SS online.
-> For the first time in 10 years, Lion is asking for news posting help for CNCDEN and RADEN. If you are interested on helping him out, check this topic.
-> CnC World has 2 new C&C3 files up for grabs. Ok, truth to be said, one of them is not new at all. It is Janeoply's submission for OMC4 Bridged War Crimes. The other comes from King Base... and considering his second place on OMC4, I'm sure this one is very recommended. Surprisingly enough, KB - For Nod is a single player map.
The Modding World News:
-> DCoder has been posting some reverse engineered coding bits from Yuri's Revenge, for curious people or potential Syringe coders at DCoder's Coding Realm. You can view them HERE.
-> At CnC Guild, you can find some of the latest goodies made for AG: SA and D-Day.
-> ThunderMods have the latest screenies on the Dune: Arrakian Wars for C&C3. If your german is good (or with the aid of Google's Translator), you can also know about the latest progress of it and Tiberium Wars Advanced. Actually, the english version of Dune's news can be found at their ModDB profile.
-> ThunderMods's Modding Wiki has been launched earlier in this month and it is a great place to improve and share your C&C3 editing skills. Pay them a visit, if you wanna mod C&C3.
-> TibEd 2 Beta 5f has been released very early in this month, with many bug fixes compared with the older versions and an improved C&C3 editor.
-> TFOtbBPVCpbBaTMtnC deadline is over and the results of this voxel contest will be revealed soon. There were 8 entries from: partyzanPaulzy, Sheridan, AprilWar, Mig Eater, MadHQ, Gaffel, BlueGuard and RoadWarrior. May the best win, although if the tradition follows, we'll have a MadHQ followed by Mig Eater or vice versa.
The PPMinators!
-> Our TS Map Archive has received 4 maps. One from Ixith and 3 from VEFbl4. I didn't had time to play them, but as far as I could see them, they look quite promising and good candidates for spotlight. What do you guys think?
-> All the recent progress from Tiberium Odyssey has been posted in this topic. New terrain tiles, civilian voxels, GDI buildings, concepts and even voices. All high quality material!
And now I'm in a rush and I have to leave home for real life issues. I'll have an exam on monday morning. Once I'm done with it, I'll cover the PPM hosted mods that I've missed and Syringe, which will revolutionize how you mod YR and even other games. You can read more about it HERE. QUICK_EDIT

I think SyS scrapped the idea of creating a new Westwood Chat, since the old one works pefectly! When SyS gets a dedicated server and AWOS is back online, then people will be able to play Sole Survivor again for the first time in 7 years! Well thats what I hope.... _________________ QUICK_EDIT
