does any one know why the tiberian sun (army) builbings have a third damage frame

i know its some thing to do with the betas because the power plants 3rd damage frame shows the smover turbine base Question

probarly for a critical damage frame not to sure

but can only have two damage frames any way so theirs no way to use them

on tibweb this question was asked too, but unfortunately we weren't able to activate it.

Afaik this is a leftover from TD and RA1 where the 3rd frame was used for a second before the final explosion of the building. TS doesn't seem to have the code to make this appear before the destruction.

3rd damage stages have been around since TD up until TS however they have strangely never been used

Even stranger still however is that a TS Beta video exists that shows the 3rd damage stage working perfectly on some GDI Powerplants and some other GDI buildings

So at least in 1 of the beta builds of TS they did create (enable?) the code for it to work

You may be able to find the video on YouTube... Nyerguds might have it... if not I think I may have it on my old computer if anyone is really curious

There is a possibility Hyper that the code is in the .exe but is disabled.... you may have a better clue about this than myself however

Its very much possible that the code was just "skiped" or so, but thats not the problem, the problem is finding it, and there are a LOT of functions in the game that deal with damage...

i think it would be great to add i again and i am interested

i thought it would be cool if when a building gets to red health it gose of line/stops working/buildig one problem with my idea is the gdi structures would have to lose ther upgades (for example look at the beta gdi upgradeable radar) but the add upgrade = restore health may balence it out
in fact this may have been the problem

edit: could you give us a link to the vidieo please

Just a few corrections. These aren't in RA1. They just have two frames for each building.

Also, probably FUBAR'd by the idiots themselves.

I was playing FS the other day with Fog and Short Game turned on, and I had basically destroyed the enemy's base; there were just a few component towers left. As the AI do, the computer sold off their buildings (killing itself), but instead of the towers dissapearing, the 3rd damage frame showed instead for a second before dissapearing.

What I come to think is the 3rd frame might actually work when the building is just about to be destroyed, but you cannot actually see it becasue it appears only for a split second and becasue of the explosion.

This maybe true, or it could be just a glitch. But it maybe worth investigating.

I've never noticed, but that's how it was in RA1 too (you're wrong Carno); they appeared for a split second before it exploded. IIRC, the walls had it too...

Lin Kuei Ominae was right, the third damage frame was used in RA1 just before the building exploded.

Hyper, look for conditionred and conditionyellow stuff, internally the states work but the frame isn't applied.
