Red Alert 3 Round Up.
Subject description: And you thought I wasn't visiting EA sites anymore, didn't you?
It's been a while since I've reported any Red Alert 3 news here, but they happened... a bunch of them in the latest days and it would be very unfair if I didn't gave them a mention, afterall Project Perfect Mod is about modding C&C games. All of them and not only old ones. Actually, almost all of them, since we barely support Renegade here and our knowledge on Tiberium is very limited at the moment.
The current news will interest those modders who will make 'pre-RA3' mods or mods based on beta content. And they are traditionally done on any C&C game. Except for TW and KW... I haven't seen much of it.
Anyway, it's time to bring up the news, but before doing that, you should know you can see them all at CommandAndConquer.com. For this reason, we'll place our perspective in this news, otherwise it is not worth checking them here, although the comments get quite heated.
-> Soviet Unit Profiles: EA is getting very sovietish at this moment of the year and they are posting profiles on some soviet units. So far we have the Bull Frog, Natasha and Sickle. They feature a quick unit profile, history, some bonus video, etc.. It's an interesting deal for RA2 modders, since, these units can be somewhat reproduced in the game, except for Bull Frog's parachuting infantry ability and Sickle jumping ability, unless someone writes a DLL file for that.
-> Battle Cast PrimeTime 10: This edition has all that top 5 and main event blah blah blah that doesn't matter to the modders, except for the outcome of the battle. Poor APOC, hehehe! APOC rankings there is actually hilarious, but not different to mine, since I haven't played KW online either. Other than this, there is a lot on Gina Carano being Natasha and APOC's Corner spotlights Tiberian Dawn and Renevatio.
-> And This IGN article has a cool demo with Chris Corry demonstrating some of the soviet units such as Sickle, Dreadnought, StingRay, Bull Frog and few others. It's RA2 in 3D with improved naval battle. Actually, it is much more than that, since that demo was just the top of the iceberg and the sounds they used are still temporary from RA2.
And that's it, but I'm far from being done with the news. I'll be posting more news later. QUICK_EDIT

Heh, nice stuff, loving the sickle and the bullfrog and the actress too .
This actually makes me want to play this game. However something is bugging me, it seems they're copying Starcraft 2 's way to present units, a video of it in action, concept art, and a description of unit and it's background (it only lacks associated ingame screen shots). Also the environment reminds me of Warcraft 3. Dunno if this is really a bad think, as I love Blizzard's games .

Oh please. Sometimes it's a good thing. I was the first to see Apoc's post saying they'd support another YR patch if we made it, that's how DCoder and Carno found out, which is how the rest of us found out. _________________
