Cartographer's Call!
Subject description: RA2 / YR Mapping Competition.
With the TFOtbBPVCpbBaTMtnC just passed and lack of RA2 mapping in the community recently, I thought it was time for a new mapping competition.
Rules:
1 - Only One map per entrant
2 - Any map entered by the creator must be larger than 85 x 85 otherwise their map will be marked as void and will not be judged in the competition.
3 - The entries must be completely new. No re-makes of maps, no copy and pasted terrain from any other maps.
4 - If you post any previews of your maps anywhere before the competition deadline, you will be disqualified and your map will be marked as void and will not be judged in the competition.
5 - Once submitted entries cannot be changed, unless the version submitted is clearly at incomplete
6 - Entries must be submitted to Aro (Me) by the 10 July (00:00GMT)
7 - The map can be either for RA2 or YR but save the map file as .YRM
8 - Terrain expansions of any kind are NOT allowed.
Judging:
Judging will be done by Aro (Me), Ixith and Joshy ONLY!
You will be judged on:
- Detail work and LAT placement.
- Map layout
- Map Lighting
- General Game play on your submission
- Trigger work
Will be out of 100 points, based on the criteria listed just above.
20 points for Detail
20 points for Layout
20 points for Lighting
20 points for Game play
20 points for Triggers.
Unlike TFOtbBPVCpbBaTMtnC, This competition will NOT go under public voting for an additional score but will be judged and rated by the judges ONLY!
There shall be no biased results and every map will be evaluated evenly.

I would like to suggest that you have all the entries entered to you anonymously by a trusted person. Dutchygamer, Team Black, Ixith, TitanMarkII and most should be sufficent for the job.

herm.... I focus on mainly a 1 vs 3 kind of maps.... I suck at making good city maps (i get frushtrated because there is a building that looks similar in few feet). but i might enter anyways :p QUICK_EDIT

Anything you can put together, doesn't matter if its a 1 vs 3 map or a 1 vs 7 map, Its still an entrant as long as you abide by the rules.
And Team Black, Joshy doesn't map, but he's fantastic at giving out criticism and giving ratings. Trust me. QUICK_EDIT

Yea I was gonna say that I remember Joshy asking for lots of advice somewhere in the TS mapping section before.
As for me...I may or may not enter. If I do it will be a converted TS map which I have not yet shown anywhere. So the scale and build room will probably be off. I just don't think I will have time enough to start a new YR map right off the top of me head. Though...I do have 2 finished and a 3rd in WIP stage from forever ago I believe...but they are nothing great since I am so used to mapping TS and the buildings to YR are for the most part take up more space. (which is what will destroy my conversion map if I use it as it will be hard to find and place the YR buildings in the already set roads and what not. )
It's a shame you didn't tell me about this before the rules were set in stone. I would have been glad to help you with either judging or having them send the maps to me and then give them to you guys anonymously.
though your rules lack something...remember there is a Terrain Expansion for RA2/YR....so is that allowed?
Anyways....if I do plan on joining in on this, then you will know by late June or the week before entries are due.

And Ixith, If you don't have time or would rather be a judge, let me know. I'm willing to bend the rules once just so I can have another judge, makes for better results.
And as for the terrain expansion: Not allowed.

that makes two of us. Although I'd be more lenient since its RA2/YR for this competition and lighting is much harder to achieve a very nice look with. You're allowed to do anything to the map itself as long as you abide by the rules and the map is the only thing you send as a submission (e.g: no rules.ini or art.ini to be included with the map etc.). QUICK_EDIT
A Submission is a Submission, Gufu. At least you're trying.
Still 18 days before the final deadline, that's plenty of time to make some submissions. QUICK_EDIT
