A quick note on Firefox 3.
Subject description: Excellent browser! It's much faster now and RAM usage is lower than FF2.
I've downloaded Firefox 3 on this tuesday and I'm glad that this site is running perfectly on it, without any need to touch it. Some other sites did not had the same luck, such as Hotmail (the full mode), which refuses to work, so I'm always forced to use the classic mode. In overall, all C&C sites I've visited had no problems whatsoever with Firefox 3.
This version of Firefox loads much faster and use less RAM. In my computer, it is using 206mb of RAM plus some virtual memory, with 31 tabs and 8 extensions. The old Firefox used more than 300mb at these conditions, so I'm quite satisfied. There are some minor improvements on the interface as well and it is more compatible with W3C standards than older versions. It is highly recommended for those who use Internet Explorer of any kind:
In a quick note, the site also loads well on Opera 9.50, except for the news which wasn't supposed to be centralized. We'll look up for a fix for it in a later time. Last edited by Banshee on Fri Jun 20, 2008 2:50 am; edited 2 times in total QUICK_EDIT

Just downloaded Opera 9.50 here and, as you said, the thing is flying! Interface is also better than the older versions. PPM loads on light speed, with a little issue on the news, which was supposed to be left aligned and not centralized. To be honest, I've never seen ppmsite.com being loaded so fast here in any other browser. Both FF3 and Opera are great browsers. QUICK_EDIT
I stick with IE. Though I do agree FF is now using lesser resources. This version is...well...suitable for most kinds of stuff. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

The news post content was left aligned here. Btw, Firefox 3 uses less RAM than Opera. Opera 9.50 with 4 tabs and no extensions used 224mb after some browsing. My firefox with 30+ tabs and 8 extensions is still using 202mb.
Anyway, both browsers are great in my opinion. QUICK_EDIT

Firefox is overrated. Nuff said.
Memory usage, speed of browser are sort of irrelevant when you have 4GB of ram to spare and a high speed connection.
I have noticed almost no difference between IE8 with IE7Pro + Page Prefetching and FF3 in terms of speed. _________________ YR modder/artist, DOOM mapper, aka evanb90

Memory usage above about 100MB is ridiculous for a web browser (and I have 2GB of RAM), fortunately FF3 has fixed that. I'm sure Opera is a brilliant browser but I've never quite got into it partly for its lack of extensibility and partly because of its interface (although mouse gestures are great and so is the forward/backward using the two mouse buttons). Generally, unless I have a stupid (+20) tabs open, Firefox only uses excessive levels of RAM if a flash video is loading, this is Linux anyway.
By the way Eva, page prefetching is bad. Very bad. It's bad particularly for smaller websites because they tend to have limited bandwidth and by predownloading web pages it causes their bandwidth to be used up. I know Fasterfox with forced prefetching enabled is frowned upon although any prefetching ultimately (while standards compliant) isn't all that great for websites.
Ultimately, IE isn't very standards compliant and many webmasters have to resort to bad coding practice to get their sites working properly with IE, especially IE6 and below. I've tried and failed to get sites working properly with IE6/7, I'm sure I'm not the only person here.
Anything is better than that pathetic excuse of a browser called Safari though. Webkit might be good at rendering pages but it's not a very good implementation, although I don't exactly like Konqueror either... _________________

Yea, most of things are useful and I check them often. Few are sites that I'm browsing at the moment and some are sites that I may use in a near future or stuff I can't forget. QUICK_EDIT
