Originally debris from units was going
          to stay on the ground afterwards rather than just
          dissapearing or exploding
         
          but the debris was going to have great! strategical usage
          for nod
          With the scavenger vehicle (which was only going to be a
          crate goodie itself due it its emmense possibilites)(i
          think that was a later desision as they found it
          unbalancing just before finally deciding to scrap it)
          the scavenger had the ability to pick up these debris
          pieces and put them together, but the twist was
          say it got 1 Titan debris (then known as medium mech) and 1
          stealth tank debris (only needed 2 pieces) it would be able
          to make a stealth titan unit
          this would all be done by a special sidebar menu that
          appeared of the normal one that appeared only when u
          clicked on the scavenger unit.

EDIT:04/03/06 - Removed some incorrect data about a scavanger Hi-Res pic, as discovered over a year ago, is actually the back of the Devils Tongue (when it had a chute at the back which was removed for the ingame version)

Also the Description above is quite sketchy, ill update it sometime when i can be bothered
One thing ill add to it now, is that through the Scavengers many conceptual brainstorming's it was at various stages going to be a "Vehicle" unit and a "Infantry" unit, which is quite interesting
Seems WW just couldnt make up there mind on this unit (so scrapped it Neutral)

Could you please add the scanned cameos? i can't really imagine this unit unless it looks like the repair vehicle. (i've got a cameo for that, but i don't know from what image it was made)

If you could make a new type of tiberium, with a different image and one that doesn't grow etc... you could make the scavenger 'harvest' debris for extra money.

I beleave the problem with that is that any harvester could then pick it up...

Now here's a crazy idea:

1)Replace the tiberium vein graphics with metal debris graphics
2)Make debris spawn this edited vein overlay (dunno if this is possible)
3)Name the weed eater 'Debris harverster'" or whatever
4) Make it dock and unload at the CABAL CORE
5) Give the CABAL CORE the chemicalspecial
6) Edit chemicalspecial to a hunterseeker, rename to "Building Core Defender"
7) Add NodHunterSeeker (NHunter) = DEFENDER (core defender)

Now, if the CORE is filled with veins (metal debris), it wil start building a Defender. When it's ready, click on "Release" in the sidebar, and the Defender will be spawned next to the CORE.

That idea(harvesting debris for cash) is actually in a game called Outlive. It works quite well, I might add. Very Happy

Removed (was what i thought to be a possible scavenger render) was tiny, tottaly pixelated and just generally crappy... oh and it was the rear end of the Devils Tongue Razz

Why does that look vaguely familiar?

And I'm glad nobody said maybe the vein wasn't original destined for TSun...there's a cutscene after (I think) mission 11 of the GDI campaign in C&C 95 where a Blackhawk helo flies over a canyon filled with tiberium vein, venifera, and even visceriods, which shocked the hell out of me after playing Tiberian Sun. Makes you wonder, huh? It was just weird.

Actually SMIFFGIG asked Westwood if there was any way he could get his hands on the beta version of TS, they said it had probably been deleted. I'm betting it's the same for the source code...

prob neither, they prob wont care, if they are rude about it, then they might loose some customers of buying TS (not really, but just hear me out) at least they will probably think. they will probably just make u copyright ur mod to u AND them so they can do wut they want with it since it will have their source code in it


EDIT: and trust me, they wouldnt try to shut the mod down. they know there are tons of mods out there, and just ebcause this is trying to bring beta back, they cant shut this one down and leave all the rest. theyd have to shut all the mods down and have childs-play delete all their programs and stuff. that would just eb far too much work and there are too many mods for them to shut down, they worst theyd do is not let u have the source code

It'd still be funny as hell if they accept your idea, then turn around and market it as an expansion pack or something or other...then again, seeing how EA is now in total control, that's virtually impossible now.

nah, Westwood could still do that, at least reminence of em, they probably didnt sign Copyrights of previously realeased games over when EA took over Westwood. If they did, thatd be crazy, unless EA gave em no choice

Who knows if WW was "absorbed/assimilated" by EA lock, stock, and barrel. They could own everything of them...though I see a mysterious absence of any other WW publication other than C&C on the EA pages now. No BladeRunner, no Lands of Lore, no Dune, no anything, just plain weird!

I wonder if there's some way to manipulate the Nod Repair Drone logic to get the desired effect...and the have vehicles leave collectible debris after being destroyed.

Someone should try to ask the gguys from WW who made the new company, they may "Leak" the source for the games(I'm sure they have it or at least a way to get it.) just to spite EA, now this is prolly 100% ilegal which pretty much kills any chance of it happening but we might get something from them.

no... all tags (codes) are to be found in the .exe, which can be scanned with the right program. There are no tags like this. And F22, no that is completely impossible. The repair bot simply uses a weapon with negative damage... (=heal)

I knowthat technically modding is illegal I just ment that them releasing source to the games(Unless copyrights are still heald by westwood and not EA.) would be illegal and would be shut down by EA.

Westwood is held by EA. Modding is illegal. But EA doesnt care if you mod their games or not, because the staff of EALA technically supports modders (but I doubt they supports modders to get the source code of the program).

Now heres something interesting

the scavenger concept art, but the character

it seems as though the scavenger was going to play as a character likely in the cutscenes as well as an actual unit

They really did remove a huge part of the game by not including it

anyway here he is

Picks up parts from vehicles and uses them to create new abilities for other units.
Example: Piece from Stealth Tank + Tick Tank=Stealth Tick Tank.

Thouse pics look awsome! I realy like the stealth tank concept. It doesnt look as flat as the one ingame and it evin looks like it has a gun attached not only missiles. The tick tank looks more agressive and I like the GDI refinery and silo conceps.
