Medic IFV
Subject description: A really odd question...
You know, I sat down and thought for a bit in how the Yuri's Revenge logic works but I was thinking: why not make a repair vehicle like the IFV, and when you put a medic into it, it can heal both infantry AND vehicles. Would this be feasible? (As in maybe having OpenTopped=yes or something of that nature) _________________ The best part about procrastination is that you are never bored, because you have all kinds of things that you should be doing. Not necessarily possible. Mainly due to an engine limitation.
You see, IFVs are voxel craft. Voxel craft cannot heal SHP units (such as infantry). It causes an error. The same occurs with InfantryTypes, you cannot use one of those to heal a Voxel craft. (such as said IFV)
Some workarounds exist but, they are mainly SHP "vehicles" to heal vehicles. (Im not sure what the feasibility is to make voxel infantry) QUICK_EDIT

I'll never understand the existance of remote healing / repairing. It just doesn't make sense. Shooting "good intentioned" bullets or healing from inside a vehicle... QUICK_EDIT
Well my basis is this: The medic logic is already in the engine, all anyone has to do is use it, right? So if someone had say a repair truck that had a primary weapon that repaired vehicles and had a slot open for one person to climb in and fire out of it (OpenTopped=yes tag comes in to play here) then by the game's logic, wouldn't the vehicle then be able to heal infantry AND vehicles?

the only way to get infantry inside of a vehicle doing that might be opentopped, but on that, I'm unsure if it would act like the vehicle trying to fire the weapons( IFV ), or if the infantry types were actually used to do targeting etc, if the first, it won't work, if the second, it might. _________________ Micro TS

OpenTopped=yes will work and the medic will automatically fire on friendly units(if negative damage and not negative warhead) if no offensive units are in with the medic(I have tried with seals and a few medics in a battle fortress). So you can still have the vehicle have an offensive weapon while the medic is inside. the game logic is really based on tanks vs infantry in many cases such as this one. and aircraft just cant do anything. maybe a hover type like kirov, that im unsure. QUICK_EDIT
