I'm bored so I started the mod back up. I will bring the turn-based game of Civilization to Yuri's Revenge. It will be a total conversion, and will bring as much of the game features as possible to the mod. There will be an extensive campaign, covering many of the historical battles throughout history.

I had already done alot in my previous attempt, but this time I'm gonna start over. Rather then scale the units down like I did before I'm gonna keep them their original size, and then see If I can change the tile size so that everything remains proportionate (and I'll see if I can use civ3's terrain too). So a little Exe hacking, and I'll be along my way. PS anyone wanna tell me how to do it? lol. I'll teach myself, it will be fun.

Hand to hand combat as in low range attacks (picture all the units as modded slaves). Civ 3 had unit stats but they don't really translate to YR. Here:

Warrior (1.1.1)
Attack:1
Defense:1
Movement:1

Spearman (1.2.1
Attack:1
Defense:2
Movement:1

Thats it. Thats all the stats for the unit. Kinda hard to translate. Basically this is what I did:

Warrior
Primary=Axe (Axe does 10 @ 100,80,60)
Strength=100
Armour=none
MovementSpeed=whatever
Cost=100

Spearman
Primary=Axe
Strength=160
Armour=flak
MovementSpeed=whatever
Cost=200

So basically it takse ten hits from a warrior to kill a warrior. The spearman kills the warrior in the exact same time (it has the same attack value)but when the warrior tries to kill the spearman, it takes twice as many hits to do it (and effectly twice as long{10x80%=8, 8 goes into 160 20 times}) because the spearman has twice the defensive value. Unlike the original game tough, the health and armour increase wil make the spearman more effective offensivly, which I am happy to live with because it reflects it's real world counterpart more closely.

The thing missing is unit formations Sad

To tell you truth I might only do the ancient period, as I find that the funnest, and do two epic campaigns; greek and roman.

that was a sloppy one I put together to gain support at another web site that specializes in civ3 mods. I did it to prove to them I can get civ3 stuff into YR.

If you mind waiting a couple weeks (or months lol) I will post another demo when I go the ancient era taken care of.

Well, I'm on to the middle ages. anyone still interested in the mod? I could use a hand with buildings, ai, and some other stuff (dutchy your help would be appreciated). How many missions are I limited to in the campaign? infinitly many?

Unlike Age of Empires, the game isn't going to be advacning from age to age. Instead the defence tab shall be replaced with the research tab, where you rsearch different technologies that are the mark of human progress. These range from bonze working and mathematics, to eventually computers and rocketry. Each unit will require a specific technology to be built. Some will require a natural resource (aka the oil derrick has been renamed the iron mine). There are 4 general eras, but these serve only if you want to start a game later on rather than researching from the ground up.
