The Obelisk Of Light is one of Nod’s most effective defensive structures, spanning from the The First Tiberium War. The Obelisk of Light charges and then fires a devastating laser beam at it’s targets causing massive damage. _________________ Last edited by Morpher on Wed Nov 25, 2009 7:52 am; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT
ZZZZAP! I love the look of it, though if the base was turned the other way it'll look more...hmm...angular. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

Again, curve it. The TD and TW ones look menacing because they curve.
I think they looked menacing because they ztype'd your ztype up!
I actually prefer it straight. It looks much more like an architectural simplicity that way, and a construction possibility for a faction like Nod. The only thing I dont like are the 6 dots, just below the eye. Something about them is... off.
Other than that, its a solid design, and pretty original too. Better than anything I could have hoped to design. _________________
On what basis did he add an "Eye" on it? Is it perhaps because TS Nod temple had an Eye thing on top, or as an alterante to the pending red light on the TS obelisk? QUICK_EDIT
TBH i really like this concept, probably the best one i've seen that blubb has worked on. very interesting. it would be neat if the tail was actually down on the ground, then when an enemy approached, the tail would flex, charge, and fire at the enemy. just an idea though. QUICK_EDIT

Kinda makes me think of a laser catapult _________________

nice eye cany, though I think the obelisk shooud be bent towards the big part of the base (the eye) instead of away from it, then the render rotated so that the eye part, as cool as it is, is facing away from the viewer _________________ The Fall of Hammerfest - Epic Tiberian chain story

or bend only the top part, so it has again the TD similar section style and resembles more a scorpion tail.
Anyway, these sketches are awesome. I wish we would have such talented concept artist for TI.
Echt tolle Arbeit Blubb!

In that case the obelisk should stay erect, though. _________________ audiopulse sagt:

Did you really just take that image and use MS Paint to flip a little square in the render? xD
That was funny.
IMO, this is the least cool design I've seen for new units on TO. But it's still good. Just... Relatively boring.
Maybe take that GDI-Getting-Flipped-Off idea a bit further? =) _________________ The meaning to life is to be able to be an addict to 5 million games at once...

I really like the new one, it feels like home to this Nod fan. _________________ I am Zengar Zombolt, The Sword That Cleaves Evil! There is Nothing I can not Cut! QUICK_EDIT

I don't understand how such structure can be considered strong. It seems like the tail is very easy to shot off, same for the eye (if control room is located there (but this is just a wild guess)). _________________ DUNK! QUICK_EDIT

Nod obelisks never had control rooms - and no - Renegade ones dont count
Besides. Obelisks just -are- strong. No matter what they look like. You did play TD, no? _________________ audiopulse sagt:

That and TD obelisks were pretty weak, actually. It's just that only a handful of units could outrange it, and thus prove it fragile. _________________ DUNK! QUICK_EDIT
Yeah, about 5 medium tanks can take out an oblesik with zero to one medium tank dying. _________________ You come for the modding but you stay for the Crap Forum. QUICK_EDIT

consume 3x3 space
This model required 3x3 room! I think it will a bit problem if used in original campaign which only take 2x2 space. May be good for Cabal base defense in new missions..
Well I'm going for the intimidation occuring when it fires, in the form of a terrifying charge and glow, and that horrifying hum (I recall how terrifying it was to meet the obelisk in that hammerfest mission... Oh God) QUICK_EDIT
