Laser Pillar

Strength: Medium
Armour: Heavy
Cost: 400
Power: -35

Laser Pillars are advancedments of Laser Turrets. Featuring a pillar like design. Laser pillars can direct their fire in any direction with pinpoint accuracy and maximium damage ensured. Additional when a Laser Pillar is not firing it is hidden underneath a metal panel underground, providing protection and allowing units to move over it.

I assume you use the obelisk charge logic for the "turret moving up" anim. But i wonder how you make it move back down after it fired the laser, since the turretanim doesn't allows the Next key to start the "turret moving down" anim nor does it allows to fire the laser in the middle of a long anim that contains the move up and down anim.

But the idea of having a laser like in the FMV is great and also the SHPs. A while ago i tried that too, but because a turret doesn't worked and the mentioned problems i dropped it.

Pillar sounds...a bit corny IMO. But I'm fine with it...

It's good and stuff, but how are you making that pillar passable by units? Gate logic?

Laser Column sounds good, but so does Pillar. And of course graphics are good.

It works fine. It raises up, shoots, and dives down into again.

But I personally dont like it that much. The overallshape doesnt really look like a dangerous weapon and that up-n-down everytime it fires looks just kindof ... weird?

I love the concept, but it really can't be implemented too well with the TS engine.

I'm a fan of the original laser pillar.

It works fine, and units can travel over the panel when it is not firing. We could even have a pop up and pop down noise.

It's pretty ugly. I think it would be cooler if you ditched the underground element and had it attachable to walls.
The only good reason for underground stuff is for stealth purposes, which this fails at.

I Think that everything (Including the underground protection idea) is good other than the pillar itself, something about it is a bit ugly, I can't put my finger on it.

Maybe have a similar design to the original, still pops up, fire, then have the actual firing tube fold toward it's vertical stand, then pop down?

No. They pop up when firing. So when they're down, you can walk over them, and when they fire they appear, fire, and disappear into their armoured bunkers.
They're pretty difficult to kill when underground, and when they're above ground they're trying to kill you. This makes them worthwhile defences.
