War Factory

Good work. Wink

Well, This will be scaled down to a usable in-game size, and I believe that the Mammoth is being remodelled as a 32 facing SHP Wink

More of the structure is underground, meaning that the waste fumes cannot be vented through the usual smaller filters.
The air re-processors are located at both sides, and allow clean air to enter the facility, and the open space inside for manufacturing, and the large motors used for the lifts and doors, requires that the ventilation be located close to the main mechanics.

I'm just going on pure visual look and bullshitting to try for plausible - hey, it worked for Westwood! #Tongue

This doesn't look big. Probably just because of the lack of a scale... idk...

Its a War factory. That means that naturally it is 3x4 cells.

Assuming you are using the old fassioned cell size.
Other than the fact that you have specific templates to use, who says that you have to make it exactly the same template for each counterpart structure for TO as in TS?

Well yeah, there's not a 1x8 cell size template, but that doesn't mean that you have to use 4x3 for factories and 1x1 for turrets etc... you could make a 3x1 turret and a 1x1 factory (although that specific example would be a bit odd...)

From what I know war factories can be no bigger than 4x3 now I've looked a bit further into it, I'm not sure about smaller sizes though (I know the one in DTA is 3x3).

Since the largest template you can choose from for any building is 4x3.
There was a 3x3 whose SHP was slightly bigger. That set me off thinking there was a 4x4.

UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: TS MUST NOW CLOSE.

crap...

xD

Hmm, my bad, I'm getting myself mixed up with Red Alert 2's war factories. I do know however that different foundations for war factories in TS other than 5x3, 4x3 or 3x3 can cause graphical errors, I've not tested this much myself however. I'm assuming war factories must have some sort of central cell where the unit is spawned.

Well the graphic errors are likely because of the "bib". If the bib infront of the factory (and the refinery, too) isn't infront of a Yx3 building, then there are going to be issues, since the bib itself is 2x3.

The central cell is probably hard-coded. >:U

Smaller warfactories cause issues when units try to exit it. The starport I made, a 3x3 warfactory, had a problem where units got stuck on the exit, unless a waypoint was set for the building.
The AI used it fine, so it wasn't a mayor issue.

Yeah, since the AI moves them somewhere.
But the issues for default exiting is because the building is not consistent with some hard-coded (?) default waypoint that is made for war factories.

The refinery would likely have the same issues.
(yeah, that's right. I called it a HarvyHouse...)

Machine is right, I should of looked into this a bit more before I jumped up. #Tongue War factories can be any size and foundation that the game can allow, but the way the unit appears will be buggy and glitched on certain foundations (anything without a central cell I assume like 2x2, 4x4 etc.).

I don't think there is a 4x4. I'm about 75% sure that 4x3 is the largest foundation in TS...

Maybe I've been away from modding a bit too long...

But yeah, different foundations are not the same as what the game naturally expects. You will have to re-code some things to fix up the default waypoint stuff.
