This has been an issue with me for quite a while now. Basically, my computer can't access EA's servers at all. This hasn't been that big of a deal, but now I've got the RA3 beta, and it wants to phone home. So I'm stuck.
I know it's not my network because other computers on the network can access EA's servers just fine, it's just my computer.
I'm using Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and not even turning off Windows Firewall has helped in the slightest. Anyone have any ideas?

Flush the DNS cache (ipconfig /flushdns if you didn't know the command already)?

That doesn't help.
Also I get a timeout error, which I guess I didn't mention in the original post.

umm... with "phone home", do you mean log in or update?

I mean that it won't run without being able to access EA's servers, I'm not sure exactly what it wants to do. I don't get as far as logging in or updating, it won't even start, it just pops up a message saying that it can't access their servers, and to check my internet connection.

Odd. I just tried it out... disabled my network connection (the LAN connects me to the internet) and launched the game, and I could still perfectly start the game without any error messages.

It may just need to validate it the first time it's run.

I really doubt that... the game engine itself is the same as the final one (as proven by the guy that unlocked the main menu), and shouldn't require an internet connection to get installed.

Ow. Okay. I see...

you can't incidentally plug your PC in on someone else's internet to get this validation done?

No, that's not really possible. As I said, it's not my network that's not working, it's something on my computer itself. Other computers on my LAN connect jsut fine to EA's site, but they aren't really suitable for gaming.

Uhm, the I'd say, make sure your firewall isn't blocking EA's site. It's the advice they gave to people that had trouble downloading the patch.

I've done so; I've tried disabling my firewall, and bypassing my router, both to no effect...
