Filling the conceptart gap on tiberium creatures
Subject description: Ickus is going to love this...
Due to the lack of WW tiberium creature conceptart aside from the Floater, and low anime-crap quality/furry-ness of most tiberium creature art from the 'community' I started doing it myself.
It'll take a while so I'll give you guys a preview for what has been done today.
Add an amphibian creature to the list, it might be fitting with one that has a feeding tentacle on it's back and feet that are designed to dig the ground. The sea bottom is said to contain tiberium growth, and this creature likes to harvest tiberium with his claws and form it into something more different than it was before. QUICK_EDIT
well, lol well...here's a mini-critique of love and joy!
, the visceroid looks more like a pile of spoiled ground meat. it seems you referenced that slime creature from the Lands of Lore vid, is commonly used or mistaken as our favorite lil' squisher. :p !
the Fiend needs some anatomy checkups, head is quite large, teeth stylized to heck, look at jaws of canines or hell look at warthogs and ole prehistoric mammals, strange ugly beasts.
Now that I think of it, look at the hound demon creatures from LoL3. I see the mangy body of a starving dog, coyote thing.. but the legs are a bit odd especially the toes.. look at paws of canines or even such cloven creatures like goats, pigs, unicorns etc..
the "crystals back" are not really convincing, look at crystal and rock gem formations more spread out..and arranged upon a curved irregular surfaces. They're all nearly at the same height and a bit homogeneous and due to the neon green BG it's bit hard to see..you did all that work and it seems you want to hide it. :p
choose something more "neutral" tone down the saturation a bit..really make your work stand out. :p
Other things.
shadow also needs some readjustment. looking pretty flat, so set up a light source and work from there.
all in all, its a cute idea, really, since Westwood never revealed any concept art regarding fiends and visceroids. And ya, this sorta now make me want to draw a "fiend" up, but that's for something else. _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT
Ah, thanks Ickus. I like to keep the head of the fiend big, that way it'll look like synapsids... those prehistoric dog-reptiles. Thanks for the headsup on the crystals.
As for the shadows and stuff... that's stuff for later, when I finished everything... First colouring. QUICK_EDIT
The Fiend doesn't even remind me Canus anymore. It looks more like a humanoid being in four legs. The visceroid...well...I would love to see a meatball-like entity with non-mutated parts of human body still floating beneath the slimy shell, such as parts of the skull, eyes, finger bone or two, etc... _________________
The fiend was never ment to resemble a dog. Otherwise they'd called it a tiberium dog. They called it a fiend, and the nickname became dog, because it's build and instincts reminded people of dogs.
As for the visceroid, just wait until that guy gets a layer of digital paint. QUICK_EDIT
Yes, but you don't love anything bug-eyed, multilimbed, raptor-fanged, betentacled, slime-based, undead, exoskeleton-wearing monsters the way Ickus does.
I mean, he has a slimething for avatar.
(I even visualise him/her/it as a purple slime.) QUICK_EDIT

Its scientific title was Canus Tiberius. Doesn't that and its physical appearance lead to a certain assumption? _________________ Last edited by Crimsonum on Sun Sep 07, 2008 6:36 pm; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT
Aside from the nitpicking on tiny bits of pieces of text on fiends in the manual... the fiend has a doghead. It's just not hairy... and he has tusks and small ears. QUICK_EDIT
int he manual the fiend was described as mutated carnivore split between a dog and a horse, yet it had the size of a horse. _________________ Hydraw Art on Facebook QUICK_EDIT
yea, its pretty ambiguous . while the text cites, canus and equus imagery. I think of them more like of Entelodonts..These really vicious giant "warthogs". _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT
lol, those things are as large as BUFFALOS! o.o imagine that a predatory buffalo! D: Now with tiberiums on their backs! gah! _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT
