You see this? http://www.moddb.com/mods/tiberian-eclipse

When this comes out, I want to play this on Ultra. But my computer has enough trouble running Crysis on UltraLOW... So, what videocard do I throw into that piece of rusty excrements? And, as a "noob" how do I install that card?

how about asking nicely?

aaaaanyway, prepare to spend some cash on it.
you're either gonna buy a GeForce GTX 260/280 or a Radeon HD 4850X2 or 4870X2.
the 4870X2 being the best all around.
of course if your resolution is not higher than 1280x1024 you could get away with a Radeon HD4870 ("X1") but it will probably reach no further than 30 FPS with that maxed out. so i'd just go for all out for the high-end.
with either of those big ones youre good for 22" (260 and 4850x2 ) and 24" (GTX280 and 4870X2) (1680x1050 and 1920x1200 respectively)
for anti alliasing at those higher resolutions, especially the 24" at Very High, you're gonna need 2 cards. though that will play well on 30" as well with less AA.

@ Zercom.eu (My usual e-tailer) :
(cheapest brand)
GTX280 (Gigabyte) - 385€
GTX260 (ASUS) - 240€
4850X2 - yet to be released
4870X2 (Sapphire) - 420€

4870 - (Club3D) - 215€

note that id personally go for the X2 or 280. just lasts longer, and are worth it to upgrade to dual cards later on. the 260 and "X1" are not, and will be obsolete quite quickly. in fact, id say even the 280 wont have much life left in it.

tl;dr - 400€

PS. a great card in a shitty computer wont do much.
in other words: sell what you have now, throw in a nice budget, and let me configure something for ya, giving you the optimal performance out of your money, regardless of demands.

PROTIP:
Mods like that come out years after they start up, upgrade then because stuff that plays crysis maxed at 100fps might actually exist.

oh u. Normally I'd do that, but since you're both Dutch, I'll leave ye be. Also, GTX280 isn't worth it. Coming from me, that might be a shocker but I'm not biased to anything when it comes to the physical cards. The drivers are another story, however... but anyway. For the next... I dunno, 3-4 months, the best to get for the money is a 9800GTX+. Simple as that.

Yes I was told that.

Too bad I haven't found it in shops yet.

best for money, yes, but for crysis you'll need 2.
requiring a more expensive SLI board, so in the end it doesnt matter that much. you could do Xfire HD48x0 on intel chipsets for less.

Or you could wait for X58/Core i7 and do SLI on that, like I'll eventually do. #Tongue Also, you only need 2 cards to run it on Ultra details at high resolutions. A single card can do lower resolutions and still have the details on Ultra, and maybe some AA/AF.

Get two 4850s, a Q6600, and a P5E Deluxe, thats all you need to run Crysis on Ultra high FFS.
