Is it possible to make the "Mutant" or "Special" houses usable to players? (Obviuosly, settings of an other side would would be applied to both meaning they have their own MCVs etc...)
Is it possible to rename the 2 houses mentioned above to a different name and make them usable to players and AIs? (can an AI be made to not only be GDI or Nod, but may be set to use a new side?)
Please reply as soon as possible, im very active today on the forum to provide more detail to the questions if you guys didnt understnad me QUICK_EDIT
Q1- to a singleplayer map yes, to a multiplayer map no.
most of the original singleplayer maps use already additional houses to simulate other factions like cabal.
But unfortunately is this not possible on multiplayer maps nor in rules.ini. There are some attempts to create new sides, but they all still have several bugs ingame: e.g. only 1 starting unit on MP maps (the mcv), no AI etc
Q2- No. If you change them to playercontrollable sides the game crashes. In addition do both sides not allow an construction yard. If neutral or mutants deploy an mcv the game crashes.
Another problem is, that the game can handle only 1 mcv. You can't make side specific mcv's.
Q3- No. The names are hardcoded into the exe and used by several aspects of the game which you can't change. e.g. spawned visceroids always belong to the house with the name Neutral like all civil buildings on multiplayer maps generated by random map generator.
The things an AI builds are not only related to the existing houses. A GDI AI can build Nod units too, if these units are listed in the teams which the AI uses for attacks, defense etc. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
You can't add any files to a map, so you would have to send a .mix file, too... And you can't create a new image, you have to use an existing one (I mean, you can't make any Art.ini entries in the map as rules....) _________________
Think of me as Nordos, 'cause Banshee wouldn't rename me QUICK_EDIT
If it's for a specific map, you will put in the unit that you are replacing in it's INI Editing feature, which affects the map itself only. For the unit you are editing via the map, you can change most, or all of it's values to your choice. If it is to look like another unit, then you will need the "Image=XXXX" tag where XXXX is the Art.INI of a unit that is already in the game by default, EG: Image=E2
That would make it look like a Disk Thrower Infantry I believe... Anyways, as with the statements above my post, this is basically another way, which also means you can add units, but not new art entries into the maps.
