ugh not sure if I will be able to be assed to get them done by the end of today. And HIGHLY doubt I will have anytime tomorrow or for the rest of this week for that matter due to christmas events. So if I don't get the maps rated and sent to Aro by the end of the evening then i'm sorry but you're all just gonna have to wait until after the 28th. I just have too many things to deal with right now and very little time.
So again sorry if the results are waiting on me. _________________ Kalistia Crestland (2)

Well lets just try to get the ratings done as soon as possible, don't want to keep these people waiting do we? Im sure they're eager to know who's won. QUICK_EDIT
imma trying to hurry! sheesh first day back from tons of christmas crap and I go to play another one of these fine maps and get really frustrated..then get probably close to over half way through with the map while fighting off tons of cyborgs and it IEs on me....it better not happen again. -_- but yea after that I took a break and I then had to go to Pep Band.
so delays among delays...depending on my New Years partying schedule I may or may not finish by tomorrow night. _________________ Kalistia Crestland (2)

Can we expect results this holiday or not

Hey, relax, I just was asking how far you guys where QUICK_EDIT
Results are coming in from what I know, Ixith is having a problem with one of the submissions.
I'm afraid that if Morpher and Blubb don't get their ratings to me soon, then It'll just be mine and Ixith's ratings in the end. Sorry this is taking so long guys, a few snags here and there. QUICK_EDIT
yea again...sorry about the delays. I have 2 of the maps completely rated. And the other two I have started but one was annoying me and the other one keeps IEing on me for some reason.
It's weird, I did nothing to the map. I simply put it in my TS folder with the other files needed for that entry and then halfway through it IEs on me. I have replaced the map file, taken out any extra files from my TS folder, hell I've even uninstalled and reinstalled TS. It's still giving me the IE. So my first thought was wave class error perhaps. But I really don't think that's the case because I've never had that problem before and plus it's happening roughly around the same time and it's when there are no lasers or disruptor beams being fired.
It's weird because it worked fine for Aro yet it isn't for me.
Then Christmas break ended meaning school stuff again. I do plan however, giving this problem map a couple more tries and maybe having Hyper look at the except file to see what the problem might be and then try to get through the other map.
What I have seen from these submissions is pretty good stuff though.
Again sorry for the delays. Honestly though I think if the contest would have ended back when it was suppose to end then I would have had more time to mess with this stuff as school was for the most part slower back in early November. _________________ Kalistia Crestland (2)

Not to flame Ixith or so, but can't we just have the results without those of Ixith? I know he has RL stuff to do, but we are already waiting several weeks for the results now... QUICK_EDIT
@ Aro...skip all this jibba jabba and read the bold at the bottom...trust me..you said I type too much so that's the summary for you.

that might not be a bad idea to be honest. The very little free time I have anymore oftenly isn't around my computer with all my TS stuff. And not having those things kinda makes it hard to rate these maps.
If you can't/don't want to wait on me any longer then go ahead and release the results without mine, then when I finally finish I will post what I rated the maps and my final judging comment.
To be honest i'm just finding it hard to make time for a dead hobby. There was a time when I might decide not to do class assignments or skip out on an outside winter cookout just to map or play maps to rate but that time has long passed.
Hell, i'm even contemplating just dumping off my map folder into the mapping discussion and telling people to play what's there or finish them up and doing the same with TS:CO but I hate leaving things that unfinished. I just can't find the fun in most of it anymore though.
anyways, I'm sorry to disappoint you guys with the big delay on these ratings. It's up to Aro if he wants to release the results without my ratings input in or not. But I'd say it's probably a good idea to go ahead and do that. At the time we first decided to do the competition the dates were better for me and I had just regained some interest...but that interest dwindled away after midway through November and that was back when the first extension was given for you guys.
So because Aro thinks I type too much here's a short summary of what's important for him:

Hmm, alright then. If you can't get ratings by Wednesday I'll just post up my ratings similar to the way I did the CCC maps cause the wait for the results has been too long. QUICK_EDIT
But you should post your scoring anyways... Or maybe just PM them. _________________ MadHQ's Graveyard - Click here!

Alright, I'll look for the text files and I'll send each entrant their rating.
Sorry about this by the way, one judge for a competition is rather stupid as opinions vary.
Edit: Forgot to say:
Very well done every entrant, each map was great and fun to play on. I Hope next time such a competition pops up, the judges well have more time (Well, those who were actually trying to get these maps judged). Last edited by Aro on Thu Jan 22, 2009 3:23 pm; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT

Can't post my map right now (I'm at school), but from my convo with Aro I do want to share this: I expected more from several 'senior'/'veteran' members here. Shame on you. Those who know what I mean will get this one
EDIT: uploaded map. Read readme on how to use. Have fun.

I don't know if I classify as a veteran or senior mapper in your eyes, but you know, people do have lives. Making maps isn't always top priority, especially not when you already are occupied to map for mods and have lots of bitchy homework laying around too. Mapping is time consuming as hell, and I don't want it to affect my life. Conclusion: People just don't always have TIME!
On a different note, I think it'd be wise to put a contest like this into a summer. QUICK_EDIT

Put a contest like this together for the summer would be more grammatically correct.
I think what Dutchy means is that he's disappointed that people said they where going to do things (Judge maps for instance) but never did it (for whatever reason, though I respect that Ixith is a busy guy), he's not referring to making maps.
People have lives, yes, and for those who don't: I'd recommend it, It's fun, especially when you get mashed and laid. QUICK_EDIT

Comes from the guy who capitalizes verbs I am kidding of course. Thanks for the correction.

He should have formulated himself clearer ...
Anyhow, the reason I think a contest that begins in the spring months and ends in August would gain more entrants, being that they should have more spare time during the summer holidays. QUICK_EDIT
I wont have time to host another competition like this. The next one I'll host will be C.C.C. 2, but not for a while.
You should host one, that way I can enter. QUICK_EDIT

Well, I'll say who I mean then: the judges except Aro and Ixith (who actually posted here). I don't care if you have a life or not, but if you promise something, you must do it. And if you cannot keep your promise, let other ppl know this, instead of saying no damn word
So, that was that. Dutchy rant out. QUICK_EDIT
=/ Again, sorry guys. I feel bad for letting you all down but it really couldn't have been helped too much. I just have too much RL stuff happening and then when I finally got some time I'd run into a problem here or there or I'd only have enough time to get a little bit done on each map.
I'll post what how I felt about each map this weekend for the ones I have done and partially all of that stuff for the ones I haven't been able to finish yet. Then when I finish completely I'll release my actual ratings of each map.
Another attempt at this might be good during the summer. Though for me it really doesn't matter cause of this simple reason...

Modding is still fun, it's just the balance between it and real life that makes things complicated.
yea...the modding part has lost a good percentage of the fun factor for me. So I'll most likely not participate in any way, shape, or form for any upcoming mapping contests (or any other part of modding for that matter). To one exception which I doubt will ever come...and that would be another TS OMC. _________________ Kalistia Crestland (2)
