I was suppose to interview six people, I'll ask for a little help. Please be serious, don't comment on any one else's answers. These are the questiosn the proffessor wanted me to ask:

"Can you please state your age and gender, and nation of origin, and then please answer the questiosn that you feel comfortable answering:

-What does it mean to be a virtuous person?
-What are the sources of good character?
-What is the most important virtue a person can have?
-What relationship is there between religion and morality?
To what extent is morality shaped by culture?
What is the most important moral issue today and why?
What is the best way to deal with cultural differences in views about morality?"

-What is the most important virtue a person can have?

Like my avatar says, you are a soul, you have a body. We are not a human being having a spiritual experience, we are a spirtiual being having a human experience. Life is is important, value your life, that is the most important virtue.

-What does it mean to be a virtuous person?
Someone with morales, through those morales depend upon the morales of the person, the surrounding as well as the observer.
-What are the sources of good character?
Genes, education, as well as the random game called life.
-What is the most important virtue a person can have?
To support his fellow man, essentially fulfilling our evolutionary instinct for collective survival.
-What relationship is there between religion and morality?
Religion and morality have been inseperatable in less civilised times. And now is the time to loosen those bands.
-To what extent is morality shaped by culture?
You can only know what you learn. You learn 'your culture'. So your knowledge on morality is always restricted to your culture.
-What is the most important moral issue today and why?
The removal of "God", "Christ", "Allah" or "Whatever" from life philosophies and morales.
-What is the best way to deal with cultural differences in views about morality?
As long as it does not challenge the human rights cultures are free to have whatever morality they want.

-What does it mean to be a virtuous person?
To just be a good person, don't steal, be kind to others, ect.
-What are the sources of good character?
Parents, role models, school, environment, and the media.
-What is the most important virtue a person can have?
Hmmm, common sense.
-What relationship is there between religion and morality?
Nothing, you tend to join a religion that follows YOUR morals
-To what extent is morality shaped by culture?
It is almost completely shaped by culture.
-What is the most important moral issue today and why?
I would have to say it would be the war in Iraq just because of how it has split the US government in two.
-What is the best way to deal with cultural differences in views about morality?
Learn each others cultures, spend some time in their shoes, know what it is like to be them.

-What does it mean to be a virtuous person?
A virtuous person is someone of virtue or with virtues, i.e. posessed of positive attributes in the eyes of others, like being kind, honest, forgiving, willing to help etc...

-What are the sources of good character?
The source of good character is understanding of oneself and one's place in existence, someone of good character understands that they and their lives may not be the most important things and can overlook things for the good of those around them, like ignoring someone insulting you so you can get on with your conversation and also show the person insulting you that they don't gain from it.

-What is the most important virtue a person can have?
IN my opinion the most important virtue a person can have is understanding, if you can comprehend, you can act, if you can understand another's point of view you can help. From understanding comes virtue itself, it is diffictult to aid what you do not understand, or improve it or even overlook it.

-What relationship is there between religion and morality?
There is some relationship between morality and religion, this does not stop atheists being good people and does not stop religious people being evil. e.g. The Klu Klux Clan were christian but evil. I am not religious but I am not evil.

To what extent is morality shaped by culture?
Morality is the view of the person's culture on actions and opinions, culture directly shapes morality, in asia things that are seen as "wrong" here are not seen as wrong and vice versa.

What is the most important moral issue today and why?
The use of technology is the most pressing moral issue of our time, is it right to give a heart transplant? Is it justified to claim a patent on a virus or bacterium? is it a good thing for business's to share information on the internet?

What is the best way to deal with cultural differences in views about morality?"
All people arte different, in morals, in personalityt and physically, we have long accepted personality, although physically you still hear jokes about small people, however they are not openly discriminated against, as long as a person's morals do not interfere with you or those around you then they shouldn't be a problem, however if you are in a different culture you should follow their morals when possible, as a sign of respect, as they should ours.

Will that do? Wink

Not, probable.

Age: 16
Gender: Male
Continent of Origin: North America

Q: What does it mean to be a virtuous person?
A: By definition, if you're a virtuous person, you are a good person. If you're virtuous, you will do things in a way according to your morals, whatever they may be; they are usually, 'good' things, like respecting other people.

Q: What are the sources of good character?
A: If ya wanna be good, ya gotta have good genes, good parents, good enviroment, good food & drink, good times.

Q: What is the most important virture a person could have?
A: Honestly, it's being honest. Or maybe being reflective and open.

Q: What relationship is there between religion and morality?
A: Religion defines your moralities, to an extent; there CAN be a huge relationship.

Q: To what extent is morality shaped by culture?
A: I figure this answer is a given. Your culture initially defines your moralities; it can shape it more so than religion, sometimes - the extent is great.

Q: What is the most important moral issue today and why?
A: Global enviromental degredation, and war; us humans are laying waste to ourselves and the enviroment. Also, vaccines and chemicals, and massed produced fake microwave food, they ztyping suck; they cause more problems then they solve (the medicine), especially if consumers use more than one type, as they would conflict. Also, stop drinking mass produced cows milk, especially if you're a guy. Why? It turns you into a girl, you start growing boobs, your voice gets higher (THaT explains why sooo many 14 to 19 year olds from the States and other countries sound like children, on Xbox Live), and it makes you break out pimples. And it tastes like shit.

Q: What is the best way to deal with cultural differences in views about morality?
A: Communication, and tolerance. It's a bitch, and it's sooo much simpler to just kill all who oppose, but...

-What does it mean to be a virtuous person?
Virtuosity is being superior, while positive, good-hearted, always willingful, a person with a superior morale, that can transmit that morale to others, caring about love and success of humans and animals alike. Romans said: Divide and conquer. I say: A virtuous person is the one capable of dividing and joining. Individual will, social community (yes, liberal communism.) based on love, peace and mutual help, praising intelligence over all things. Humans are virtous, but not enough yet.
-What are the sources of good character?
Intelligence, tolerance towards differences, own and others mistakes, agreeing to help but not letting to be abused.
-What is the most important virtue a person can have?
A filtering mind. Not all knowldege must be share, all private thoughts are private. A mind uncontrollable from the outside, uninfluenciable. It has to love also, to everyone.
-What relationship is there between religion and morality?
That has to end. Laws have overriden the religous morality culture. But when that happened, we couldn't be stopped and that's why we are here. However, religion should not impose what we can do and what we can't.
To what extent is morality shaped by culture?
Well, depends on what culture and social area/estatement. Example: Having sex with your sister is wrong (very wrong) on 80% of cultures and countries, not counting religion. It's not the same talking about that in USA or in India. Time also affects that, since cultures have been changing always.
What is the most important moral issue today and why?
SEX! Yeah, but it's true. Since bikini banning in 40's to 60's to deep secrets unveiling to the public or even swinging! Ethical constraints are being ereased slowly.
What is the best way to deal with cultural differences in views about morality?
A good chatter and tolerance.

EDIT: WTF? Gufu russian? I thought he was american...God bless you, русскйи.

And there you have it, DaFoo.

Yes, sex is an important moral issue today; but if we don't stop destroying the planet, slowly, but surely, we won't have a place to have sex. Plus we'd be dead.
