It seems like mentally unstable people gained somekind of courage from the events of last year, when a young adult commited a massacre (9 dead + himself, IIRC) in Southern Finland.

Right to bear arms + depressive people = bad idea.

And Finland is already a horrible country for depressive people, only a little bit of sunlight.

Well, Finland is still one of the most depressed countries in the world... IIRC.

Still, they don't have as many shootings as the BASTION OF THE SECOND AMENDMENT... *wink wink*

Ban guns! Put anti-depressives in the water... err, kill all the people! Make living illegal! No more killing and problems...

Serious, there isn't much you can do about it except banning guns. The worst those depressed people can do then is jump in front of a train, like they always do in the Netherlands... I hate that, the machinist has to go to a psychologist, they need to clean the train and pick up the parts... :/ You're bound to be late for like two hours.

I have no respect for trainjumpers, scum screws up the daily business and life of too many people. Just jump in bath with the toaster...

Well, the guy died in his wounds. I can't say that was right for him, because he was sick. What he did however was absolutely wrong and should not be even considered.

Indeed, they will be encouraged by the publicity their predecessors recieved. This is the modern media; no one cares if Dalai Lama levitates to the Moon, or Mother Teresa saves 100 africans from Malaria, but cameras start flashing as soon as people blow up carbombs and kill dozens.

People overreact about violent videogames...

...having shitty parents is a much bigger factor to school shootings than videogames...

Ban all parents!

Ztyping asshole could have only killed himself! Why the hell he had to kill other people too!?

However, politicians in Finland have already started to speak about more strict requirements for getting permissions to carry/buy guns...

FYI, I hate everyone who says that violent games are the cause of this, without giving decent scientific arguments Rolling Eyes
Anyways, it's a shame it happens again... It's odd that the police released him though =/

Just ban all firearms and you're solved, like here. #Tongue

So...if I play lots and lots and lots and lots of RTSes, will it make me a megalomaniacal pwn-all-country commander starting with a single baby armed with a toyshaking-thingy?

I played Super Mario as a kid so now I feel like stomping on turtles, stealing coins, eating mushrooms, crawling in pipes and smashing my head into bricks.

I played Doom as a little kid. I've been afraid for computergames for like I don't know how long...

Well, out of those things, the most happy result would be smashing your head into the bricks.

Yeah, I found out so. Well I don't know about your gun-law, but our government has taken a few steps to make it harder for a person to purchase a private (i. e. not for a job like hunting, but for "own security") firearm.

No firearms in the Netherlands or something. Don't know about the rules exactly.

The only time we have shootings here is when a policeman loses it and shoots his wife or when criminals are shooting the shit out of eachother, but only in Amsterdam.

In britain you can only own shotguns, pistols and bolt/lever action rifles, plus some other stuff, you need a fuckload of paperwork and the police dont carry guns. Some criminals do but we have normal police and armed police, the irony is that the average criminal can get more firepower than the average cop. some places you can buy a handgun for about £200, although if you're seen with it you get surrounded by cops with flak vests and 9mm semi-autos, or MP5s if you've got something bigger.

When was the last time you heard about a gun crime in britain?
