I have TFD.
I want to test my mod through LAN.
I have a perfectly nice working computer, but without a DVD drive.
I copy the tiberian sun directory into another directory so i have two ts directories. in this extra directory i fix/crack the game.exe.

I copy this extra directory to my USB drive.
I put USB drive into computer without dvd drive. the game runs fine from the USB drive, however when i click LAN the menu it refuses to go into the lobby - the menu jsut flashes and nothing happens. I can run the game fine on the computer TFD is originally installed from but not from the 'no-dvd drive' computer.

Is the game looking for info in app data or somewhere? i don't know, i know very little about computers. Is there a solution?

Well, I'm sure the EXE itself will first check the directory... But for LAN and Online, I do not know... Most likely, it will search for the TS directory on the computer it was installed on. Other then that, I do not know much else.

negative.

the USB drive directory can enter lan lobby on the computer TFD was originally installed in, but not the other.

I don't think a lan patch would fix this

well i installed the ipx rubbish onto the no-dvd comp and now i can see both comps in the lobby... However 'no-dvd comp' can't join 'original comp's' game and 'original-comp' can't see 'no-dvd comp', once 'no-dvd comp' has hosted.

maybe TS recognizes that your edited exe is different from the unedited exe, thus the game can't synchronize both.

VICTORY!

The network adresses in properties for the IPX thing were the same for both comps, i think that was the problem.
I also switched from autodetect to eternet II on both comps.

and now it works fine.
