a bit off topic but it's got me stumped and im not sure where elce to ask

you know how folders can be marked as read only and then the files can't be eddited
well I just re installed XP and every folder on it is that way
but I can edit the files in them
though the programs I run can't
like ra2 is set to the wrong screen size and I have to fix it every time I run the game
and my persanle info isn't getting saved either but my login info is
it makes no sence to me

and when I check the folder it is marked as read only but when I tell it to change it dosn't
im stumped

If its only the ra2 folder, perhaps you should try reinstalling it (in a new folder).

XP home or pro? It sounds like it might be a permissions issue. If it is, its easy to fix in pro if you know how, not as much so in home. You are an admin user right?

Boot into safemode and check the file permissions have the administrators group as having full control. You can only see the file permissions in safemode as simple file sharing is enabled permanently in normal mode XP home.

For a folder belonging to another user.
Also try the Ra2 folder...

You at your other thread wrote:
I just re installed XP last week so my computer "should" be glitchless

Hmm... This is a problem with your XP, not ra2 related at all...

Did this problem also happen before you reinstalled XP, or just now?

I'd recommend trying the folders on the other account, "home".

Depends on how you think you are changing it to writeable. If you are just changing it to not be read only in the file attributes, that isn't enough. Its not obvious because of how XP home is crippled, but when using NTFS as the format for the hard drive, each user can have different rights over folders and files such as read only, modify, even just being able to see it. You can only change these in safe mode. Look up NTFS file permissions on google or something.
