It's starting to get cold here in Norway, there's ice everywhere. Very Happy A week ago we had our first snow, woke up in the morning with an inch of new snow. Confused I took a few photos, one in the early morning when it's still dark and one from the car driving to school (I happened to sleep over at someone in town because our house was being fixed with, i don't usually get driven to school) I'm sure Tore has got a nice amount already.

What about you?

Snow in Norway? Noooo

Anyways, the snows gods are looking over us here is New England, they want to make sure we rake up all those leaves before we get to start shoveling.

What part of Norway do you live in? Are you far north enough for the 24 hours of darkness (Excuss my ignorance is that is so far north it is uninhabitable)?

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fd/Satellite_image_of_Norway_in_February_2003.jpg

The climate depends on where you are. Coast areas are warm and pretty snowless, especially the latest years. The inland and mountains tend to be quite cold. Our record is -51,4'C in north Norway and about -50'C in south Norway. Mountains and inland are a mild version of Sibir Razz

I live between Oslo and the other town called "Fredrikstad" on the eastern side, in a small coastal in the Oslofjord called Moss. Map: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b4/Norgeskart.png

No place is "uninhabitable", however, this place: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnmarksvidda would be one of the coldest places to live. Hammerfest is very habitable, and so is Trondheim. Very Happy

Also, you have seen this place in Star Wars episode 5 #Tongue : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finse

This year is going to be odd.

We've had snow (snowfall totals for the season amount to a dusting but hey), but it has been strangely warm.

This does not bode well for December. Warm autumns frequently preclude very cold winters. Or wet ones.

And the funny thing is. We here don't consider November to be an "autumn" month.

Russia's the largest freaking country in the world. I think their terrain would vary just a little bit. Just a tad.

Anyways, we got to get through the "November Rain" before any snow comes.

Same. Although I'll miss seeing snow.

Fall was always my favourite time of year. Cool, but not cold, and without the annoying mosquitoes and other such pests that spring brings.

I'm glad my country has four seasons: Summer, fall, winter and spring. #Tongue

I believe Russia is temperate in the west, but the northern areas and inner areas (to the east) are polar (sibir).

And the weather is strange, up here in North America... yesterday, it was so damn bright and sunny and warm, no need for sweaters. Today is quite foggy. But it's still warm, and it's NOVEMBER.

The seasons have changed.

well here in southern Ohio it went from being quite cold like December weather in mid-late october to being freakin late summer weather in this early part of november. seriously the high today was 74F and the low was like 48F. Only a couple of weeks ago it was lows of 27F and highs of low 40s.
I think during one of those cold weeks there was a chance of a small snow flurry but it didn't happen.

I am actually extremely sad as it pretty much went straight from summer weather to winter weather and then made a weird jump back to summer weather and is about to get cold again. No fall weather makes Ixith a very sad individual. Laughing
I can only hope that we start to get a bit of fall weather before the winter. Which I feel will be a pretty cold and snowy one for some reason....(which will suck because we already used 3 of our 5 calamity days when the frickin hurricane Ike sent shit up our way and knocked out our power for like a couple of days for most people and like 2 weeks for others Confused )

Ike did near nothing around Central PA. Plus I am not looking forward to snow and cold. Our driveway gets iced over alot and its hard as hell to get out once it does. So when it ices I can't drive to school or work. Plus I'm usually the one that shovels.

Snowed down south here a week or so ago.I came back from lovely sicily to snow! Quite a week that was. Then BT broke our phone line and it took them just under a week to fix it.

My winter starts in june and... it's not that hot, but it is not cold either... The worse we get is 12'C, which is quite rare here actually. The average is 18'C in the winter and over 37'C in the summer.

I'll trade ya.

Our summers (Technically May through September) reach as hot as 40C or higher.

Our winters however sometimes reach as low as -30C. (I have yet seen it reach -40C(-40F))

Yeah, were a frozen wasteland from October 28th to April 10th.

Just be wary, our Spring has just about as unpredictable weather as it can get. We get everything shy of hurricanes here in April.
