^^ may not show too much of a decrease, but the quality has decreased, most posts being word game and relay-related, offtopic and crap, and when mods release something, its forgotten in a few days or so... QUICK_EDIT

As nice as it would seem, I find it unlikely. As for the community shriveling into a small grey husk, the problem is that not enough people are interested in it, nor have made many high-quality mods as of late. _________________

The only way I can see PPM staying alive is an influx of RA3 modders(which is unlikely, C&C3 gave us...3 or 4?) _________________ Comcast: Yo dawg we herd yo were downloading, so we put fail in yo modem so yo cant download while yo failin! QUICK_EDIT
we will all eventually get old enough and move on. Modding will die or atleast will only be done by college students who are in programs that actually have something to do with video games, and the era of the casual modder will die and give rise to a very few but highly excelent modding teams (who are modding mainly for the resume work in hopes of getting hired by a game company).
Eventually everyonbe will move on with their life, and everyone else will not care about ts or ra2 because they are so old. Modding the current games will have too steep of a learning curve for new people, and modding will be left to the "professionals", or rather the aspiring profesionals. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. I'm beginning to see sensible stuff from gufu. The last one he made was like 3 months ago...? This is really the Apocalypse. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

Ok. I get it now. Why is this website dying? _________________ Awesome banner made by m-.. I mean AltomareXD!

Most people asume it's dying due-to lack of activity and posts in particular areas of the website (or just in general). Sometimes I can understand why people will get the impression, but If you've noticed recently the total post count per-day has gone up significantly, though I'd love to see the result if we lock all of those little games like the 'Word Game' and the 'Word Relay'. PPM Isn't really dying, its still fairly active but the activity in TS and RA2 Modding (The two particular games that this forum mainly concentrates on) is slowly beginning to die cause of the sheer fact its old and people have moved on to modding other games or have simply lost interest. Some people do, some people don't, its the way it works, if TS and RA2 modding dies, it'll be a shame but it wont be the end of the world, there are other things to do, and plus I doubt it'll die for quite a while to come. So PPM isn't really dying?
*sighs for relief*
If that would ever happen, then where else am I going to find Ra2 tutorials. _________________ Awesome banner made by m-.. I mean AltomareXD!

RA2 has a quite old modding community, the game was released in 2000 and if 8 years later modding like this continues in about 5/6 years we might get a YR:X project from a forum veteran, it's no that bad a game TBH and on XWIS N00b gameplay will live on for quite a time... _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It's a shame, but everything comes to an end sometimes I haven't modded TS/RA2 in ages, and I notice myself wasting much time on looking at the forums then really modding the games lately. Maybe it has something to do with the new games that have arrived. I dunno. Maybe it's time for me to restart my oldskool modding capabilities and mod TS/RA2/Generals again... QUICK_EDIT

Aro has made a good suggestion on MSN to me, you'll here from it later. It does involve closing some stuff which some spammers here may not like, but it will turn the attention to modding more QUICK_EDIT
People have been saying "Oh no! It's dying!" for years but it's still here, it's not dying in a hurry.
The only thing that would truly revitalise it is a new game from EA that's as easy to mod as the older ones and gets accepted by the community en-masse, but that combination of things is very unlikely to happen. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
so slowly ppm will die. it's like a human really, it gets started and grows rapidly for 1/4 or 1/5 of it's lifespan and spends th erest slowly dying. The forum hasn't gone senile yet so I'll assume we have at least another 3/10 left! _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT

look at the games we mod
few mod Dune, C&C1 or RA1(Dune is abandonware and C&C1+RA1 are freeware)
most people mode TS and RA2(thay are starting to get old)
few mod Generals or Renagade or TW (because thay are hard to get started with and are time consuming)
and nobody can mod KW or RA3(because of lack of tools)
we will die but only when banshee gives up hope and orders the servers to shutdown _________________ Creator of TS:BoB and some other things that might be good when finnished. QUICK_EDIT

who cares if it's "dying" or what not - and I don't really think it is, it's simply changing is all. It's still an enjoyable hobby, and even when I stop modding, I'll still be visiting the community to see how things are. _________________ The Fall of Hammerfest - Epic Tiberian chain story

I've seen many people saying that TS modding is dying or PPM is dying for at least 8 years or so. And it's obviously not true.
At this moment, my activity with the site is lower because I'm having to deal with a lot of real life activities, leaving me not enough time to update the site, tools, etc. But this is temporary. Once I'm done with my university, the activity will return.
With lack of news post on what is being produced on the community, people tend to think that things are not happening and that the existing mods lacks progress. Also, news posts clearly motivates mods to produce more.
Once I return to post news in the same fashion that I used to do, you guys will think that the place is exploding on activity again.
And honestly, RA2 and TS still has a lot of life here. RA3 won't attract that much people because, likewise C&C3, the engine is very complex. QUICK_EDIT

I think the old games are still more attractive to mod, as the newer ones are too complex to want to muck around with. _________________ The Fall of Hammerfest - Epic Tiberian chain story

I found all of the recent game to become harder to mod. Gone are the days of .ini's. The closest thing is XML's. And most of the game requier the knowledge of the 3d model use - something I just can't apprehend very well. Unless it is simply drag n' drop (Like some of the level editors). _________________ DUNK! Indeed, this is why I prefer all the older games over the newer ones. Though the newer ones have better graphics, plus if you can figure out how to get in there. You can snag all the explosion and particle effects texture files, hehe. _________________

Very much agreed. I find .inis the easiest to mod. I'm also accustomed to .ini modding, but I've got experience on the Tiberium and RA series .inis only. Gen and ZH's inis are much complicated, I can barely understand. Only managed to edit price, buildtime, weapons and stuff. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

I'm affraid that could kill the comunity even more:Maybe spammers come here, but some of them correct theirselfes and go modding, which I can remind people about myself.(Which was a bit of an n00b at Revora.).
This thing could transform PPM into an dead hole,as Revora.
I'm affraid that CnC Guild doesn't have the power it had in the past, and I wish that admins there could at least recognise it...(With no offense,I mean Mig and Rawlo are some good guys around...). QUICK_EDIT

Who says that his idea wants to kill the whole spamming forum here? It are only the main spamming topic like the several word games, the TPAM game, and maybe some other too... Oh wait, I'm afraid I told something I shouldn't have told QUICK_EDIT

Generals and ZH isn't too bad once you get used to it. It is a lot more complex than TS and RA2 modding, but a hell of a lot easier than even thinking about modding C&C3.
What does TPAM stand for again? _________________ QUICK_EDIT
Generals aint that bad, in fact I really like it. Only problem is that I can't reall skin/animate. Other than that its a good game to mod, beside the fact that there's no con yard and the resource system is weird (to us CC players) _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. i belive Anderwin is right we wont die if we keep opening up new fourms and Recourse sites out side(and in) ppm (if i knew how id set up my own site)

Whats the point in closing spam games seriously...
Thats the ridiculous moderating that really pisses me off. Spamming in the right area is great, making a funny comment in topics is great. Dont delete them because you cant handle attention being taken away from something.
Forums are meant to be fun free areas to talk about stuff. Currently the moderating here is what keeps Revora being a lot nicer place to chat. QUICK_EDIT
I don't really notice the games and such being a problem beside getting higher postcounts (Why would they do that?)...
I don't really go offtopic a lot, but the current level seems to be at least tolerable. Maintaining a status quo wouldn't worsen things alot... _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
