Hello Everyone,,
i bought RA2:YR before a week and installed it on my pc ..
anyways when i started to play .. i noticed that there is no "Building" and "New Construction Options" etc.. sounds can be heared in the game Confused

i tried to figure out the problem and after a looooong time i found out that my audiomd.mix is kinda weird .. Rolling Eyes

i used XCC Mixed to check it and when i highlight audiomd.mix .. this is what it shows:

it shows that all the sounds r in a wav format .. BUT.. when i double click it
this is what i get:

it shows that all these files r in w3d format !! Shocked

i tried to find out wat r those w3d files , and it turns out that they r some 3D files or something for C&C Generals Surprised (not sure yet Razz )

anyways when i try to play one of these files ,, it says that its an unknown file format (Using Windows Media PLayer ... and some other players Confused )

i had the same problem with Thememd.mix , same w3d files and i couldn't hear the background music in the game .. but i got that fixed by downloading those themes in mp3 and converted them to wav then added them to thememd.mix and it's working now Very Happy

but i couldn't find the sounds inside audiomd.mix on the internet ,, i tried looking for the .mix file itself to download .. but no results Sad

so plz anyone can u help me?
and dont tell me to buy another copy <.<
if there's any way i can convert those files to wav again (which i tried but no use) tell me ..
and can someone upload his audiomd.mix for me in case no one could help?? Embarassed

btw i downloaded the original ini files and compared mine with those ones .. there were no differenece between them.. so i guess the problem is the W3D files ..

and here is my email to send me the audiomd.mix in case u cant post it in here:
final_snake_fantasy@yahoo.com

thnx guys Very Happy

lol, audiomd.mix is over 70 MB, no way is anyone emailing that. For what it's worth, the filesizes your screenshot shows are consistent with what I get on my valid audiomd.mix . It could be just a quirk of XCC, see if its older versions show the same rubbish.

audiomd.mix only has the EVA sounds in it. All of the main sound files are stored in audio.bag see if that has any problems too. To view it go to the top menu bar & click launch > XCC Sound editor > Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge.

I would suggest uninstalling your game, delete the folder and reinstalling it.

Maybe in the Options button in-game, your 'Voice' or 'Sound' slider is at 0. Do check it.

Make sure your game is legit #Tongue

I tested audiomd.mix with XCC Mixer 1.21 and 1.46 and each came with WAV as the file format. Something is bunked with his install. Seems suspiciously like warez but that's only me.

And my setup is original discs with Generals and Zero Hour installed as well. I originally thought having Gen/ZH installed might do that but it didn't on mine.

Yet like DCoder said, those filesizes are exact match except for whole odd W3D type xcc throws them but then xcc is known to be buggy. Confused

is it vista computer? Razz

and maybe you should provide one of those W3D wavs to have look at.

i tried reinstalling, checking game options, but still not working

the game is not playing EVA sounds so i guess it's not a problem with xcc , and i had the same problem with thememd.mix , same W3D files and i couldn't hear the music in the game but i got it working by downloading the background music and inserted them inside thememd.mix as wav files ... and it's working now.

as for audio.bag .. i checked it and it works file i can hear the solders's sounds and everything Smile

anyways thnx for the replys , i'll try the older xcc maybe i can find something there xD

laterz

btw:Make sure your game is legit> it is legit><
