Happy birthday for TibEd: 9 years old!
Subject description: And now TibEd 1 is freeware!
Nine years ago, Koen Van de Sande released TibEd 1. It started as an an intuitive editor for Tiberian Sun and it was expanded for most of the old C&C games (prior to Generals) and even some Dune games.
TibEd 1 provides a simple and intuitive interface that has introduced many people into modding these games in a plain and simple way. However, it is not a kind of program recommended to be used by mod teams and advanced modders who makes uses of Rock Patch and similar executable hacks, since TibEd has never supported them directly and it also doesn't keep the comments.
During these first 9 years, TibEd was a shareware. After 30 days, if you didn't pay for the product, it would take a little longer time to load, but you'd still have all its features. From now on, to celebrate the 9 years, Koen has made TibEd 1 become freeware and TibEd 1.7 no longer has this limitation anymore.
If you are starting to mod C&C games and wanna learn some of the things that can be done with the game, grab TibEd and see what you can learn from it. In a later time, you'll find everything you see on TibEd on files such as rules.ini, art.ini which are all in english as well. Happy modding and happy birthday for TibEd! QUICK_EDIT
Please don't grab it, instead take a look around and read Modenc, at best use it as a reference. _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT
I do recall using TibEd when I first modded RA2 and TS, since I had no knowledge on rules.ini yet, and XCC Mixer. I memorized the "words" beside the dropdown lists, and when I first did rules.ini modding...voila. It was a miracle.
(With TibEd, a flying destroyer that rotates like the speed of a helicopter being ordered in all directions and dying with a demotruck boom while spawning a GI...aww god. What have I done?!) _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
Hahaha! Sounds worse than what I did (OP Grizzlies and the GI being replaced with a dude who looks like a seal and does 3x as much damage as I wanted...) _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT
nothing beats the first time I tired to mod. I had the rulesmd.ini downlaoded from raden, and then I made a couple simple changes (change the price of some units and the names). But I kept the file on my desktop. After faling to make any changes after several attempts; I quit for several months. Oh foolish me. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. Ahhh, the good old days. I don't know what's more pathetic.. him charging or the idiots paying. QUICK_EDIT

Really is hard to believe that someones buy that program, come on, if you see examples and try to learn you can make codes without TibEd! QUICK_EDIT

Nobody needs to buy it anymore. Actually, nobody needed to buy it before, but if you liked the program, you could donate some cash to Koen. I'm sure he would appreciate it. QUICK_EDIT

To be honest, when I first saw TibEd, I laughed at it because the guy is just wasting his time over nothing. Seriously all it takes is a Brain, Notepad, and some time to spend with toying the engine through trial and error, well at least for me that is. _________________

I have and have alwasy used notepad. It was annoying at first because I would scroll, but once I discovered the find key, then life got easy. The only tool I have ever used to do ini's other than notepad was finalalert2, and that was before I knew you could open up maps in notepad. Oh how silly we were in our youth.... _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
lmao...there's a button called "PrtScrn" or "Print Screen" beside your "Scroll Lock" button, above your Insert button, to the right of your F12, Northeast of your Backspace, North of your Left arrow button.
Then go to Paint, press CTRL+V and save the pic.
Something's fishy...? I see the date on 2006 as 5 years...in 2008 it's 9?! Woah...we must've experienced a time lapse. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

Happy Birthday, TibEd! Actually, it's sad because most people say you'll get a lot of bugs and errors in using TibEd. I haven't tried using it so I can't judge.

Wait a minute? Isn't it named Olaf Van de Spek? I think I heard it somewhere else in a Modding Forum. _________________ Awesome banner made by m-.. I mean AltomareXD!

Relax Destiny i know to use PrintScreen! QUICK_EDIT
I can clear that one up easily. If you look back for that announcement on my website, you will see that it refers to "5 years of TibEd.net", the website. I never had my own domain for the first few years. Looking back in the release notes, the first public version of TibEd 1 was released on November 13, 1999.
You can punch me for being more than a week late with the anniversary
Thanks for the warm words, and of course TibEd can't beat Notepad and a brain. But not everybody has a brain _________________ TibEd 2 for C&C3 experimental QUICK_EDIT
