The Army doesn't have rocket Hummvee's. They have Avenger's, but since this in the future I don't see why not.

Stngers, TOWs ....... etc

The U.S. Army doesn't attach TOW's or anything like that to their Hummvee's. (I know from experience!) I do know that the Avenger Hummvee does in fact have a LMG (Light Machine Gun.) in the turret. You aren't supposed to use the Avenger on anything but air craft, so they added the forward gun to take down light vehicles and infantry.

Sigh... Does it really have to matter if the mod uses Mechs/Humvees, or Machine's "Hov-vee" or not? I think that if it can fit into the mod some how, then it should be allowed with exception... Remember people, this unit is basically the alternate of the Hov-Vee unit that Aro and his team are working on for when the hover tech can not be used in the stormy regions of the Earth in TI... So let's stop arguing if the unit can or can not use missiles and what not, this is TI, not REAL LIFE.

Exactly. I'm just trying to explain the real situation. But the mod IS in fact set in the future, so I don't see why not use a "Hov-vee."

Whats this then?

AFAIK The US military has put TOW's on HMMWV's since the 80'tees

(requesting splitt of the "modern day" HMMWV ("Hum-Vee") discussion.)

They never use those. Crying or Very sad

In the other thread the Hummvee looked like an Avenger. Attaching TOW's to the turret is just crazy. (Which is why I said they don't ATTACH TOWs to their Hummvee's. Sure they have Hummvee's with TOW launchers, but they on't ATTACH them to different Hummvee's.)

Anything that gets split from the TI Forums ends up in the TI General Discussion.

Banned, I think.

Lets see. Humvees Can have pretty much whatever the hell you want to put on them. Most of them have a turret with a .50 call on them, however you can mount TOW missiles. Stingers, no, as they're handheld as far as I know. (Could be wrong, I'm not in a stinger unit). The Avenger, yes, is an Anti-Air unit, however it's based on the Humvee's chassis. Wink

They don't use Stingers anymore. (My dad was in what I believe was the 23rd ADA Battallion in the 1st Infantry Division, stationed in Germany. We're now at Fort Bliss which is mainly used for ADA training, but they're moving all those guys out and sending them to I believe Fort Sill, and they're bringing the armored division there and moving them here.) That's how I pretty much know that they don't use them anymore. I don't know what they use now, I've just been around this kind of stuff for a while.

They still have stinger teams, they used to mount them in special bradleys with stingers instead of TOWs but now they just have them sitting in the back with their rocket launchers, getting chucked about and hoping they won't be sick when they get pushed out to shoot down 3rd world aircraft.

I thought the 'Mericans sold all their Stingers to the Muddhaheddin and Al Quada... (Oh, the irony).

I hope people learn lessons out of this. Never sell, give weapons to people that are more fanatic and radical then your own enemies.

In reality, the Avenger's missile launchers are for use against low flying aircraft. (It is a Cold War design intended to fight off Russian MiGs)

The Humvee with the TOW is intended as a lightweight anti-armor/building support. (Not its original intended role)

Some modifications to the Avenger in Iraq have mounted a vehicular version of the Javelin (or M2 Browning .50 cals) to add more support actions. Especially since, Al Qaeda is like the GLA without either tanks or aircraft of any kind.

In terms of game design, it becomes a problem. Both if built like realistic versions can become highly redundant of each other.

I know a little, but I'm not actually in the military. (Yet.) I've sent in my application for the Air Force Academy a little while ago...

AntiHero would definately know much more than I do. (But I know for a fact my dad's old battallion doesn't use Stingers anymore! I'm not sure about the rest of the Army, but why do that to only on small portion of the Army?)

Uses up less ammunition within a area I think, not really sure. I'm sure they carry a few around somewhere, however thats the first I've heard of battalions not using stingers...?

I'm sure you won't enjoy firing Stingers out of Humvee windows, would you? No wait, Von will. I forgot, my bad.

I don't think a Stinger has a hardpoint for mounting on a Humvee. That's what Avengers are for. They are 2 different vehicles but the Avenger uses the Humvee's chassis. I think they had fun removing the back #Tongue

I call him daTS, IIRC his D wasn't capitalized when I first saw him.

Anyone with humvee experience? Perhaps maybe you could tell us maybe it isn't cramped inside and you can't fire out of the rear window.
