Version 1.09 progress
It's been a while since I've released a new version of DTA, so I figured I'd just give some information about what I'm working on. The upcoming version of DTA will mainly be about replacing the "building" (SHP) terrain to real (TMP) terrain.
So far mainly the temperate terrain has been converted; here's a small preview:
In case you're not familiar with the way the terrain in the older versions of DTA works; in versions 1.08 and older of DTA all terrain (except for the roads, which were replaced by real terrain in version 1.08) exists out of invisible buildings with a bib which looks like terrain andt his really doesn't make mapping any easier. Other problems are that SHPs slightly overlap SHP units that stand on top of it (if you pay close attention you'll notice that even in regular TS the service depot will for instance slightly overlap the feet of a Titan or Wolverine) and that that when a stealth crate is picked up next to any "terrain building" (be it a cliff or whatever), it'll be cloaked.
Since version 1.09 replaces all "building terrain" with real terrain, all these problems will be solved and mapping will no longer be as big a pain in ass (unless you simply don't like to make maps of course ).
As you can see in the image (which was made by aligning the tiles in an image editor, rather than in a map editor because I haven't converted the tiles to TMP yet; this gives a perfect representation of what the terrain would look like ingame nevertheless however), the rivers, shores and cliffs now exist in all angles (horizontal, vertical and diagonal).
I'm working as fast as I can on getting the rest of the terrain finished, but it might still take a while to get everything done, so I hope this preview made the waiting a little more pleasant. _________________ Last edited by Bittah Commander on Sat Nov 29, 2008 5:17 pm; edited 4 times in total QUICK_EDIT

Anyway, maybe I will make that map I said I'd make for you now that it's easier to map. The new terrain is coming together well. Good job, Bittah. QUICK_EDIT
