1) It would end up with way to many assets, or wasted assets.
2) They have conflicting styles.
3) No chance in hell they will all agree.
4) They're not finished.
5) Who will be the leader? It will be hard to organize with all the staff. QUICK_EDIT

I used to have a similar mindset.. but it happens, the more staff you have working on a project, the lot less likely it is to finish.
That, and all of the rest of the reasons _________________ The Fall of Hammerfest - Epic Tiberian chain story

Oh,ztyping grow up.Whats the point of 3 uncomplished mods? Im ready to lead and to give stuff from TS:LR to any of those mods.Merging all together will really make all stuff complete.Or if someone other wants to lead, you are welcome, since all I want to see is a awesome mod,not a mod that is better then someones unfinished mod. _________________ Lost Relic[mod] Lost Relic[game] QUICK_EDIT

I doubt TI and TO will ever merge. They both have a different direction for their mod, even though there are team members working on both mods... QUICK_EDIT
It would be a good idea but as stated their probably not compatible, besides people prefer to do their own thing as you can see. Good luck in getting them to do it QUICK_EDIT
what gets me is that they have all the 'pro' members in their mods that can make great work etc (and thus leave other mods with no1 lol) and yet other mods are releasing way more (tho less quality shp & model wise in some people's opinions) so I gotta wonder which mods are actually doing better QUICK_EDIT
Wouldn't work, the mods all have their own directions and even if they are only slightly different it's enough that they'd never combine in a way to please the owners of the individual mods.
Lame idea? They have different directions, you cant just merge mods together and voila, it works. Isnt that what all those Turkish mod rippers do? Its not about timing either... theres no time limit to when a mod should be released... plus its a hobby.
Its also not TS:O or TS:TI, its Tiberian Odyssey and Twisted Insurrection. QUICK_EDIT
I really don't know what to think to be honest. I can see some of the points being made that if you where to Merge all of the mods together it would knock it up into a more complete mod, but though some people think they look the same, merging them together would surely show you how unalike they are. I'd personally not like to Merge with Odyssey as I don't think our styles really match, plus it's good competition.
I see it like this: I know that VEF is tired of working on TS:LR Cause he gets bored easily and he thinks that merging all three together would mean a more complete mod. I can see where he's coming from but It's as Bolt said, merging things together doesn't just fit together, it has to be planned etc.
I'd not merge TI with TO. I think that if VEF has gave up on LR, its assets should be donated to something else instead of letting them go to waste. This isn't a bad or a good idea in my opinion, but merging them together isn't a very good answer. QUICK_EDIT
Well, the mods shouldnt be made just for the audience, but for your own enjoyment. Make something you can be proud of and enjoy playing yourself. Just because there arnt millions of fans doesnt mean it isnt worth anything. QUICK_EDIT
I agree.Thats why im trying to merge them together,to get more quality work and all this became a better mod. _________________ Lost Relic[mod] Lost Relic[game] QUICK_EDIT

They're just a collection of assets. Of course you can slap assets together into a "complete mod", that's what this community has ben doing since forever. QUICK_EDIT

In that case every mod is just a set of "assets". Ultimately your restricted by the engine to just recreate an existing unit or one already made by another modder. QUICK_EDIT
I disagree with merging mods if
1. the story is totally different
2. graphic style is totally different
3. gameplay is somewhat unique
4. crews members are not capable to work with bigger teams.
They are all fan-sequels, so what? EA didn't create kind of sequel we wanted so we decided to make ones with our unique way. It is more likely to have at least one mod finished if there's many competitors instead of one big. Last edited by DonutArnold on Tue Dec 16, 2008 8:51 pm; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT
My advice - if you do decide to shut down TS: LR for good, donate it to one of the mods - TI or TO and release what they do not need to the public. Your assets are simply too good to go to waste. QUICK_EDIT
Tiberian Odyssey is 2041, set after the second Tiberian War, Twisted Insurrection is set after Tiberian Dawn with a Nod ending. Already, merging just these two would have conflicts between me and Aro, all those assets under who's control? And what would we do with the story? That's more of a hindrance than a help. It seems to me the general idea is merging mods means all graphics are complete, but those graphics are attached to what the entire mod is about, plus TI and TO have very different styles in their artwork.
Merging TO and TS: Recoil was going to be hard enough, eventually TO overpowered and just became the dominant mod, gobbling up Recoils asetts. If we merged the 3 mods, either TO, TI or TS:LR would end up being the dominant mod, and I can assure you, I don't want TO to be changed to TI, or TI to be changed to TO. That's staff conflict already we simply wouldn't get anywhere. Just because TI, TO and TS:LR have good artwork doesn't mean they will work well together.
Anyway Norvus Ordos pwns them all because it actually got released and saw the light of day, help the mod that is already successful. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

Ya know, the LR stuff might actually go best with Novus Ordo..
Leastwise, probably better there than the other mods _________________ The Fall of Hammerfest - Epic Tiberian chain story

its just the differences are so subtle to the outside work, the content seems to be borderline the same since they all are based on same universe. Thus they're fan fiction mods no matter what way you look at it good or bad.
although this obviously won't work, both are doing it for various reasons even as frivolous as it appears.
Some people just find making a titan a challenge and or rewarding..regardless. I personally think its unengaged and boring to so do..so it comes across as odd and unproductive for me.
You can't simply break up and consolidate teams in hopes they will be a mod-pumping machine.
Also note that not everyone is post-production. so just because a person does not make an in-game asset does not make them useless. _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT
lol, call it Tito. I really should start producing again, but that damn orange box... _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
