How can I make dark voices with coding soundsmd.ini?
Exempel in Mental Omega, the gravi miner have light voice with just some coding in in the ini file. But making darker voice is troubble. Help

This is my code and it is a disaster ingame:
Quote:
[MARVSelect]
Sounds= $vaposea $vaposeb $vaposec $vaposed $vaposee
Control=random
Volume=95
FShift=20 -20

Problem here: Sometime the voice is normal. sometime the dark is light, and some times is the voice dark.

LOL!
You can say "dark" and "light" voice in my language, I tought it was the same with english.
I think its "deep" and "pitched/high" voice, not sure.

lMAO. Yeah okay, that makes sense Laughing

I'll go check out mah soundmd.ini, although I'm already suspicious of "FShift=20 -20"...

EDIT:
Yes its definitely FShift, meaning frequency shift.
The numbers you put there (20 -20) makes it shift the frequency, or pitch, randomly by -20 and 20
(-20 is low, 20 is high, but I'm not too sure, it could be the other way around).

To have a normal voice, just delete the tag.
To have a low or "dark" voice, try "FShift=-20 -20", which means it will always be the low voice
(or it could be "FShift=20 20", I'm not sure if its inverse).

Indeed if you want your sound files to be played in lower pitch with no variance you should use FShift=-20 -20 for example. AFAIK it uses percentage values to calculate the frequency shift (e.g your normal sound would be at 100, then FShift= -20 -20 would be played at frequency of 100-20, and FShift=-20 20 varying between 100-20 and 100+20 and so on...)

It's pretty simple and adds nice variety to sounds, but i wouldn't be using too big numbers with unit response voices, unless you insist either slow,low-pitched voices or want your mammoth tank driver to sound like he's been enjoying too much helium gas lately..
