The past couple weeks I've been trying to replace and add a couple units to my Yuri's Revenge. But reading and understanding those tutorials isn't that easy when yur dyslectic...So here's my question: Is there somebody here who can to tell me in detail how I can do this (you can add me on msn) or is there somebody who can make this mini-mod (for personal use only) for me? I prefer to do it myself, but I need somebody with a lot of patience to explain me on how to do it. Thanks in advance, I know this is a silly request but I don't know what else to do Sad

These are the units I want. (I included all files in the attachement)

I think its great that you asked this for help well, instead of demanding other to do it (as certain new members would).

None of your replacements need new coding, so a simply rename would suffice. Look up the unit's Image in Rulemd (and if you can't find Image=, then use the Header Name), and rename your new units the same, so they override.

For new units, I always recommend cloning a similar unit and modifying it to your needs.

Then change the Image= to the vxl/shp name, and copy the similar units artmd.ini code, with a name (and cameo) change.

APC: recommend you clone BattleFortress, and take out Opentopped
M1A1 Abrams: clone the grizzly
Comanche:clone kirov, give it higher speed, lower health, and change prerequisites/owner

copy and paste, but make sure to add the unit to the end of the list. Read a tutorial on adding a unit.

I read a few tutorials, but it's chinese to me. All I can see is numbers and letters dancing around Embarassed

I have some problems replacing the harrier. There is one file that I renamed to orca.vxl, but it's still the same harrier. what am I doing wrong?

Find the list of Units (search for SMCV form the top of the file). Scroll down until the bottom of the list. Add:
XXX=UNIT NAME
XXX=Reccomended to be number after last.
UNIT NAME=whatever, reccomended 4 characters.
so let's go for the abrams.
That on the list:
XXX=M1A1
Search [MTNK] and copy the entry, edit it so that the bit in the brackets says
[M1A1]
Change the Image=Tag to Image=M1A1
Add a bit to the strength, speed and cost. Maybe add ,GAAIRC under prereqiusites so that you need an AFC HQ to build it.
Next go to ArtMD.ini and copy the [GTNK] entry, paste it and change the bit in the brackets to [M1A1] Like before.

Get all of the abrams voxels and replace GTNK or ATNK or whatever with M1A1.
So they look like this:
M1A1.vxl M1A1.hva
M1A1barl.vxl M1A1barl.hva
M1A1tur.vxl M1A1tur.hva

If you have XCC mixer now is the time to learn to use it. Open it, create a new mix file called "ExpandMD03.mix" and drag-and drop the abrams files into it. Put it in the RA2 folder. If you can't use XCC put the files in the RA2 folder, I think that works...

Test it ingame, then if you want a weapon change follow the next step. If it doesn't work go through and check for typos. Make sure you added it to the right list etc and check for typos.

Ok, so you have your new unit. Want a new weapon? Find your Tank. Get the name from Primary= (it's 105mm). Find that, copy it and rename it to [120mmAbrams] you can change the damage, range and ROF easily. Range is just as it seems, Damage is too. And ROF is the delay between shots, not the speed.

Looks like he can speak English at a good level Dutchy. "It's all chinese too me" is a quite complicated phrase, and he doesn't show any flaws in his language. Wink

That only applies to when you build it, not with when you start with it.
Unfortunately, you'll have to make it unavailable to start to fix this, by adding:
AllowedToStartInMultiplayer=no
