Hey, really good looking, Hyper! If you want to, you can make a spanish one. Uprising would be "Red Alert 3: El Levantamiento" in spanish. Also could be "Revolución" o "Motín", thought that last one isn't a synonime, it could be cool to see. I just hope spanish translators don't screw any more with the game and try to be as faithfull to the original names and such as possible... Imagine, in CnC3 they were calling nod soldiers "noditas", literally translating into noddies... okay, I end my little burst of anger at translators now. Just a bunch of input, Hyper. Keep it up!

Sure, im open to making a spanish version,

So it would be Red Alert 3 : El Levantamiento, Red Alert 3 : Revolucion or Red Alert 3 : Motín??

I need to know for sure as these take a while to set...

I think it would be the first one. "El Levantamiento" would suit perfectly.

Too literal, Raminator. Well, I personally like more "Levantamiento" than "Insurrección". Sounds epic to me, hahahaha...

El Insurrección translates to The Uprising, just like the french version, they both include "The"

Where as Levantamiento translates to The Survey on google xD

"levantar" is more like to stand up
Levantamiento would just do fine if you translate it from german "Aufstand"

Hyper, you know asking Google translator for a good translation is like asking a goat to translate the bible from hebrew...

I think "Insurrección" does fine, but personally "Levantamiento" is good also. Raminator is right, but other of the meanings of "Levantamiento" is that of the uprising or revolution. Trust me, I'm spanish. I know my language.

Anyways, translators will mess it all.

In Czech it's something like Rudý Poplach: Povstání, but Rudý Poplach sounds lame a bit, like translation of some English name of some Native American Laughing From marketing reasons they can release it as Red Alert: Povstání, but I doubt they will translate this name:

We usually translate names of films or books, but not games or music albums, at least these not. Also, it seems even Russians don't do this...
Same Slovakia, probably Poland and I doubt other Slavic nations will do this...

Hahahaha, well, I was granted that power from an ancient, dark sorcerer. Or proffesor, how she called herself.

[Offtopic]

Also, I think translating names of games is ok, as long as they do it right. If you are to translate a name for a game, at least try to be as close to the original as you can. And music albums... don't translate those. And that applies for movies too. Some just translate retardedly.

For some reason, Levantamiento seems more like a survey than uprising. These words are similar in portuguese, so I know what I'm saying. I'd use Motín or... evene better: use the french translation, which in spanish would be something in the lines of Red Alert 3: La Revuelta.

I like them! And, Banshee, Motín is for something small, like a riot in a ship. Levantamiento refers to a larger number of people in a revolution.

Yea, this is why I prefer Revuelta over Motín. Levantamiento is more like a survey or... to stand something up #Tongue... like 'levantamiento de peso'. Perharps you are right, but when people talk about rebellions, civilian or military uprising, the word revolta (in portuguese) is much more used than levantamento (portuguese). So I guess the same applies in spanish. At least it applied in french #Tongue (which also derives from latin).

"Восстание" would make senseif it was related to rebellion... if that is what was ment by uprising. If it ment rise to power/political scene, then... :/

And keep Red Alert in english, though. It is best known by english name.

Alerta Roja : La rebelión

'La revuelta' is poorly used here. At least spanish uses more Rebelión

That is... following the french one. Hmm... perharps there is a better translation for the word 'uprising'.

would a better translation be more on the lines of "to rise up" (like the tides or something).

Taking it as revolution.... perhaps some insight to the plot?!? There couldn't be some secret brewing...Some uprising or revolution that takes place and challenges the three factions? Or will each of the factions in their own campaign rise to power again?

Nope. Flemish & Dutch people even complained when their ingame text in C&C3 turned out to be in Dutch instead of English #Tongue
(not sure if the EVA was Dutch too... I got the Kane Edition, which doesn't contain Dutch at all)

"The Awakening" would be good also, but we don't know a thing about the plot, so, if they thought "Uprising" was fit...

Probably you know most of PC games are released in English, but just part of them is made in English speaking countries?
World Language #1 = possibility of success on whole World
I also prefer English language in games from abroad (so I will look for UFO:Aftermath trilogy in Czech if avaiable).

Well, also when I said Rudý poplach it wasn't pure translation from Red Alert (which hasn't never been translated),
pure translation would be Červený poplach, because red is translated into Czech as červená, but:
Communists have been nicked as the Reds, but they originally used rather colour of blood - the maroon , later red...
You can see Red : Rudá, so it probably has come from one word...

Povstání is similar to Polish Powstanie or other Slavic equivalents...
Oh crap, I am turning this thread into etymology thread... Neutral

Also in Czech it's possible to use Rebélie (means Rebellion) or even revolta, so even some pensionaire who learned Russian when (s)he was young will understood.

But I have chosen the closest option to the uprising... Wink
And still it would be pretty crazy to see this translated into some African or Asian - non-indoeuropean language... although I won't be able to read it. #Tongue
But I am afraid of something like: Red Alert: Roasted Chicken #Tongue

back on topic, why is the R not mirrored in your logos Hyper?

Was this scrapped after RA1? I always liked it, as it gave the name something special.

Can you make the german one with mirrored R's?

@Dutchygamer: not even RA1? Strange that they did it only in the german version. RA2 doesn't has the mirrored R anymore too.

Actually, in Romanian, it would be something more like:
Alarma Roşie 3: Rãscoalãrea

Rãscoalãrea literally means "Uprising".

Roşie = rose (light pink) = red
revolta = to revolt/revolution
