The BCPT minute has a mention that EA is getting athletes to star in their FMVs (like Gina Carano who starred in 2 seconds of RA3).

Michael Phelps as Assault Dolphin in RA4? No longer a far-fetched dream... And y'know to may homage to Phelps his Dolphin character should be seen with 8 gold medals. Hey if EA can put 70 medals on Kukov's outfit, 8 on a Dolphin should be a piece of cake.

This is the most blatant example of "look at my boobs" I have ever seen in a video game.

Kids are spending a lot of money and time on these games and they deserve first rate performers and I’m glad to say that this is what Uprising is.

What? KIDS?! They hire former Porn-stars and glamour models for a kid game!? This is seriously retarded!

2)Valdez. Boobs-related comic. Now!

The only way I'd buy RA3 with this actors is if they would've added Eddie Murphy with some of his jokes...

I imagine:

"Commander, our units have intercepted a nuclear monkey coming from the Empire...

*Looks at prompter*

What?Whattawhawhat on earth....

*Monkey appears*

I think nearly all of the previous cast realised how purposely bad and stupid they looked in this game. RA3 gives a bad name to all games.

Well done EA, if you haven't killed RA with this one what lives through will be so horribly disfigured it deserves euthanasia.

I see A LOT of crying on this page. Keep it up. The same complaints over and over again. Hold on, let me make a set of cookie-cutter sentences that you can simply copy-paste into the reply field and demonstrate your standing on RA3.

Personally, this is the perfect expansion for me, no multiplayer component means that GR.org can't pull a CNC-3 on Uprising, making it unenjoyable to play.

And the cast. Is that a woman not showing her breasts? EA must be losing it. (or got tired...)

I completely agree with this post. EA bashing, while entertaining to some extent, gets annoying after a while.

If you saw such a set of boob at your door step and the owner promised to do a couple fo thing, would you laugh and say "yeah, right!"

Now, if she's giving you orders ingame and says, I want you to go in and go in fast, do it hard and fram the rear" would you not be inspired by those words?

Obvious troll is obvious.

Also its not crying but rather facepalming at whoever buys this and the precedence it sets for its low quality.

Also Gufu if EA actually had the brains to make a decent game and not rape their licenses and fanbase the EA bashing would cease (or get laughed at). EA had an idea what they wanted to do with the license from the game design start (add aliens, explosions, profit) so any idea of talking to the original developers was null. The shift was to teenagers 13+, hence C&C3 contains hollywood and aliens, and RA3 contains vast sexual innuendo and b00bs.

Red Alert was already raped the moment Westwood Pacific started work on its sequel with its squids and cloning vats and whatnot. Everything established by the first Red Alert went out of the window. EA's just building up on what RA2 did to the Red Alert universe.

And of course the Tiberian universe was screwed around with by the introduction of Renegade with all the First Tiberium War retcons within it...

In conjunction with EA and told they had a year to get it all done in.. I'm sure I've heard somewhere that RA2 was supposed to be the same as RA1, but something got lost in the communication between EA and Westwood Pacific so it turned out into some sort of strange, cheesy B-movie thing. Besides, the original RA1 writers and such weren't part of the RA2 team, but Kucan was still there to direct.

While I dislike some of RA2's "quirkiness" it wasn't shoved in your face as much as RA3's and I can't say that I agree with EA's vision on expanding this to insane levels either, or the overuse of scantly clad girls. If you're going to make a satire wargame.. make it satire and do it well. Heck, a game like RA with Fallout-esque humour works if you want to keep it serious with periodic funny tones, probably what RA2/3 should have been from the start but this mostly relies on the skill of the writers.

Something tells me the video game industry might bust. I think it's kinda like a bubble right, and soon the industry might have some hard times, espicially with the economy (atleast in the US) like it is. Look at the pure quantity of games that are produced every year, and I don't mean copies, I mean titles (Are there more movies made a year or games now?).

Anyways, I like the satirical way they made it, and not too many games come out with a sense of humor (everything is so dark). My only complaints for the game was that everything seamed to be made for the "competitive online gamer". Everything was streamlined, redundancy cut, and units made uni-roled. It was like they were trying to make it as simple and minimal as possible. The gameplay itself is ok, when playing by yourself that is.

Fully agree.. if you ask me the older games are superior in quality compared to newer versions. I think it's because games have to rely on too many expectations now: top notch 3D graphics, good voice acting, good writing, complex programming, good publicity campaign and so on where some smaller developers would struggle.

As such this recipe has led to a small niche of huge developers making "global hits" like Blizzard Activision, EA, Nintendo and so on to keep the market afloat. Smaller companies who cannot survive will either flop (sometimes making a cult hit) or get swallowed by a bigger company.

As well of course games following the genre status quo too much leaving new ideas to be considered.. e.g. Starcraft's multiplayer monopoly on the RTS market and the idea of "micro" also is the biggest economical standpoint to which developers are afraid to take risks.

Exactly that's the problem. Kucan being there to direct offered little comfort when I think about how the feel and setting of RA1 appealed much more to me compared to the whimsical nature of RA2 (Romanov IMO surpassed Cherdenko in silly)

I agree with DaFool on the simplification of the gameplay. I don't know who was the smartass behind the "every unit can only have one ability, one and only one" thing in RA3 but he needs to not work on the next C&C.

Steps to fix this shiz:
1) Get the guys from the fallout team
2) Kick out everyone behind the fast-fluid and fun stuff and the "ONE ABILITY ONLY"
3) Cover up some of the boods, keep 1 set for a new tanya.
4) Look at RA1
5) Play some RA1
6) Find the good points and bad points
7) Add some innovation
Cool Look, see if it's got stupid
9) Fix stupid, then keep going
10) Make game, add humour in controlled quantities. RA was a sarcastic comment when stalin was gone, RA3 is a HUGE NEON ARROW SAYING IDIOT ABOVE HIS HEAD.
11) Survive recession
12) Make sequel with more innovation but keeping core gameplay and humour levels.

[/ideal world]
It ain't gonna happen, but we can all dream.

My idea of fixing:

1) Use an atmosphere and setting similar to that of WiC, but with a handful of exotic sci-fi weaponry blended in with real ones, similar to what War Front: Turning point did with its alternate WWII setting. Preferably nothing that sounds even remotely corny like"Empire of the Rising Sun" ("Empire of Japan" sounds nicer, srsly)

2) Kick out everyone behind the fast-fluid and fun stuff and the "ONE ABILITY ONLY"

3) Undergo the game development process

4) Do not include DRM

5) Do FMVs with more detailed scenes, not blink-and-miss stuff like a King Oni cutting up an Allied flag weef eye beem

6) Put animals back in the game. Heck put all the cool civilian stuff we've seen, like civvie cars and trains from Generals not the static, immobile props seen in C&C 3 and RA3

7) Officially declare this as the true RA1 sequel

I see what you mean. Get WiC and add a little tesla, maybe an MGG and a phase... I see your angle. But have sarcastic/ironic things on the billboards, maybe a few clever puns in the briefing, nothing too over the top.

The only Uprsing that'll be going on in my house is when I Rise up from my chair to go get some food.
