I hope this is in the right category, sorry if it ain't; there isn't an RA1 subforum, which kinda sucks, but its a dying game, I know.

So, I'm looking for some cameos for Red Alert. Anyone have any cameos available for public downloading? Or does anyone know some sites that offer cameos? Specifically Infantry cameos.

Look here. It is a little dead, but almost all the downloads are fully functional. I don't know if they have any infantry cameo, but it's a large site. Good luck!

I think he might want some new cameos. I don't know if SHP builder does it, but if it does make ra1 cameos, then just google "soldier" take it from there.

Yep, looking for custom cameos.

Is that the only RA1 site still up? Whatever happened to that C&C Tech Center site? Black background, featured TD & RA1? It was going before RA3 came out. It had some nice custom campaigns.

I'll definitely google stuff, but some nicely made stuff (that is available, as was the creators intention) would be sweet.

Another question, is it possible to simply add in a new unit to the list, or is that still hard coded? I could just replace the civies.

I converted all the generals cameos to ra2, thats a couple pages back in the shp forum. I also have the ra2 cameos and ra3 cameos on a .tga in this forum. If you look around in my civ3 conversions, I posted the occasional cameo here and there.

EDIT 2: Yep, as I suspected, it didn't work. I'll keep trying.

EDIT: Okay, does anyone remember the General/Marshal, a mission specific unit? VOLKOV? Yeah, I'm trying to add in a cameo for the unit, codenamed (literally) GNRL. Do I just add in the file called GNRLicon? Will that actually work. Testing now, but help is appreciated.

I don't want to create another topic to ask this question, so: Is E5 (Chemical Warrior) still an active slot in RA1? The graphics are there, but the code (rules.ini section) isn't.

just try to make a rules entry for the chemwarriror and see what happens...
in ra you cannot add units by simply adding new code to the rules...
it is hardcoded to the exe like for example shpsize and turretrotation...
wait for nyeguds to post something here if he wants to #Tongue

Yeah, E5 didn't work.

Okay, so far, I've got the General/Marshall/Volkov (THATS the one) in; he's the Soviets new cyborg commando. He's just got no cameo, as there is no cameo entry for GNRL, unfortunately. I'll study some mods where they use GNRL and add there own cameo. That Armageddon one or whatever.

Already did, no effect. The easiest way is to just replace a unit with a cameo, but I like all the units, even the Radar Jammer, and have them balanced pretty well, tech levels adjusted.

For the most part, infantry are useful now, but you still have to take care of them. Medics & Mechanics are cheaper too - 800 BUCKS!? What was WW thinking?

From my studies of the Armageddon mod (which is ztyping cool, BTW, every country is a new faction), I'd have to make my own mix file; the file name of the cameo within the mix would be like 1563GFB. No idea on how to do that at the moment.
