How come PPM site only allow 110x110? Most forums allow 200x200, and few allow up to 800x800 but thats lame.

Larger avatar would be nice.
200x200 jpg is no diffrence from 110x110 png.
its about the same size, or maybie even smaller

Not everyone has XXL resolutions, that's why. Even though I would prefer a slight increase to 150x150, so I can use the same version of a pic for all forums...

nobody use 800x600 resolution today. People dont use old computers anymore. not even in afrika!
A very few probaly use 1024x768 but that wont be a problem for 200x200 avatar.

My screen's maximum resolution is 1920x1440 but I run at 1024x768 when not playing games on my main computer. My secondary computer runs at 640x480 so are you sure your statistics are right? And I use the secondary computer quite often(I have Microsoft office on it along with other none game programs, I also use it when I feel like just using the internet quickly)

Maybe its because I hate squinting at tiny ass text when 1024x768 allows for clear reading while making pixels near impossible to tell apart... Congrats to you if you like to squint at -23 font at your 23849x54876845 widescreen resolution but I want to have my eyes healthy when I'm 50...

EDIT:
200x200 won't affect it that much on a 1024x768 but I will have trouble when viewing it on my 640x480 screen(200+500+100ish(the size of avi+max sig size+whatevers inbetween) will easily push past my screen when looking on that resolution) But I was also stating that not everyone uses huge ass resolutions.

Any bigger avatars are completely unnecessary. Avatars dont provide anything except identity, which could be achieved with much smaller a size.

Also, "most other forums do it" is one lame reason. You shouldnt follow others just because "theyre doing it"; people should stand their ground against the world.

That wont change the fact that there will be people using 200 x 200 avatars.

Yeah, it would be really fun having many people use so big avatars..... Rolling Eyes

I think it should stay below 110 x 110.

As I said before, get glasses. Its not the size that damage your eyes. its the chemicals from the computer screen I believe. A fat-monitor spread low amount of radiation. And dont be ridiculus, I use 1280x1024 like normal people.

There is a reason for the dimensions and size (kb) limit of sigs and avatars.

PPM is a place for everyone.

And that includes those with smaller resolutions, and those with dial-up.
For those people, it would just be a waste of bandwidth and space, which isn't very useful anyways.

Besides, as Crimsonum/Yuri was hinting at, many forums don't even allow sigs or avaters. So enjoy your 110x110, and stop complaining.

Arf. Having a bad day. Razz
Anyway, there is really no need for avatars to be any bigger than 110x110 (you're lucky it's even that size, a lot of forums don't allow any larger than 80x80).
Something I would suggest though is the removal of the 200 character limit in signatures, that can be really irritating.

Edit: Fixed spelling.

I'd say allow 200x200 with an option to limit those to whatever size you actually want it to render it as in you profile but... We're still on PHPBB2 here, anything that takes effort is not going to happen.

I'd prefer an avatar and signiture free forum, so my screen isn't filled with anime and robots when I'm in the school library checking replies when I'm suppose to be using it for "school related activities".

I don't really care about the avatars. I come here for the modding and the community, not to stare at avatars and sigs. All I use avatars and sigs for is defining who is who (But now without name changes that doesn't really matter).

110x110 avatars are fine a forum, doesn't need huge avatars that takes up a quarter of the screen. Forums are for discussions not "hai! Look at meh nice & huge avatar!!!".

and this "if you don't like [insert thing here] don't use/look at it" works for somethings, but not for avatars even if YOU don't use it you will still see other peoples huge avatars.

110 x 110 is good enough if you want bigger avatars to to another forum that allows "big" avatars, 150x150 isn't to bad though but 110x110 is enough for this forum.

and there was no reason what so ever to bash me. Rolling Eyes

@Skinner5000
who are you that you as a new member with no real reputation on this forum speak that way to other members? I suggest you calm down first and use a more polite language before demanding for changes on PPM.

QFT, can't support the "anything that takes effort is not going to happen" part enough. Whatever happened to testing pHpBB3 on another forum and then using it here? I would like to see new forum software before bigger avvies, honestly. I don't feel the early reasons not to use pHpBB 3 hold a lot of ground anymore, why aren't we using it?

1. Stop ztyping insulting members that have been here a lot longer than you have(and any people in general), it just makes you look retarded and pisses people off.

2. ANY monitor will release MINOR amounts of radiation that it won't affect anything unless you spend your whole life infront of it. Also, unless your using a NEW monitor(flatscreens mostly), the bigger the monitor, the more the radiation so your theory is just stupid. And if it IS a new monitor, you can go as low as you want with resolution without it affecting anything as well. Also, any resulting eye damage is similar to straining your eyes reading in the dark or staring at fine print for hours.

3. Back to the topic, 200x200 is way to big no matter how you look at it. The only forums I have seen with 150x150+ sizes are art forums, n00b sites and business sites that avatars can be used for more ad space.

Also, this topic needs to be locked and crap for shier stupidity and trying to convince an ass of something.
(Get it? Ass is a donkey and they are stubborn XD XD XD XD I crack myself up!)

Skinner, you realize that GRANITE releases radiation?
The very rocks that this world is made of are radioactive. Most of the universe could be described as radioactive under some definition, you are somewhat radioactive.

'Computer Monitors Cause Cancer' is an urban myth which resurfaces every few years, with anonymous emails and all the attached stuff which comes with urban myths.

*Thinks of all the things everyone has ever said about stupidity, tries to focus it into one sentence, gives up, goes to read something intelligent*

In conclusion: Skinner, STFU.
