Yeah, I like early plans for a mod, but who knows when the RA3 mod sdk will be released?

Besides, can't we come up with stuff a _little_ more creative then remaking RA1? =|

God no, too many remakes! its like all the C&C modding community does is remake crap. Remakes will kill modding before EA's tools (or lack thereof)

I don't mind the usual reinterpretation, but seeing that the mod tries to basically clone everything, including the graphics, this seems quite pointless to me.

People try to do it becuase there isn't a complete version of a mod that has everything. So they try to make it themselves.

like you, red alert toon promises to make other remakes mostly pointless. Which is good because people will have to think up other stuff.

Have you tried playing Red Alert lately? The UI is awful, you can't even right click scroll.

Yup, as is the balancing, pacing, [...], graphics and design. Which they deliberately want to reproduce.

Seriously, the RA1 UI isn't any worse than the one from Dune 2. One gets used to those...

IDK, the sprites were quite adorable IMO. Remaking them for a 2010 release mod is pretty ztyping dumb, though.

And just how many remakes of Red Alert have been attempted? Just curious, I'll list all I know

ICFRA
Red Alert 1.5 (May as well have been)
RA1 TC for Gens (Whats the name?)
This mod

God knows I missed like 5 more, but the point is, why bother?! Its going to have no campaign, it has no original or unseen content to allure people, if anything it just attracts people who want to play RA1 again, and God knows it sucks up artists like a vaccuum. Hell, Its probably killing C&C modding for the newer games. Why? It shows people are simply re-creating old, and probably affects EA's desire to make the SDK. I know I'd take my time if all people wanted to make was the same old shit. Now, if all new mods come out, will it make EA work faster? No, but it'll show that the modding community is thriving and creative.

How the ztype is re-creating, dot for dot, assets for a 10+ year old game, creative, or exciting?

The community really needs to take things in a unique direction like RS, Helios War, AR2(still one my all time favorite's), and FC. there are some others I know but forget... concerning yet another ra1 remake, I really wish people would let the dog die.

on the other hand.. I can honestly say I will play this mod atleast once.. assuming it gets off the ground.
