PPM Announces Open Source Game Image Creator (OSGIC)!
Subject description: Your way to produce graphics for your mods will never be the same after OSGIC!
Unlike any existing image editing program, OSGIC will unite the creation of 2D, 3D and voxel based images in a single program. This software concept will be based in 3 words: Simple, powerful and colaborative.
Simple: The program will have the most intuitive interface possible, being based on the most successfull image editing programs in the world and with a search bar. Instead of looking for a tool inside zillions of categories, just type it in the bar and it will show you the closest result.
Powerful: You'll build graphics from existing graphics even if you lack skills to do it. I.e.: if you need to create a mage, search for a human, a cape and a stick. Then, edit them to fit your needs.
Colaborative: You can share your 2D and 3D images as templates or textures. And even custom graphic effects. Then, others may use it by using the search bar.
This program will take a while to be available and it will require an online connection with a PPM account. For more information, check:
Amazing. Now I'll have maybe an alternative to GIMP, Blender, and the old VXSEIII when CNC Modding
This of course will be CNC oriented? It would be great for this to have support for terrain making for CNC games ^^, the terrain formats and also SHP formats.
And since it has 3d too, then a far off suggestion I offer: maybe a system to link 3d with vxl (edit one and change the other).
But by far the most interesting is what you mention of UI. It would be awesome to have many windows and tools customizable, when VXL editing. QUICK_EDIT

No, this won't be C&C oriented. We need to conquer the world with a tool for everyone. Although I'll try to add means to export its files to whatever C&C games uses, but no guarantees. Actually, just in case nobody noticed, I've posted this on april 1st, at PST... and for Hawaiians as well. QUICK_EDIT
I was skeptical about a magical program that could handle 2d pics, voxels, and 3d models, but I said to myself "they could just have multiple tools that are under one program", but noooooo. It's april fools.
If you do want to make a program, how about an OS program for 3d modeling? _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

I don't know if it is a joke or not, to be honest. Both OSGIC and the features announced for the existing tools are things that I wanna do, but they are not simple and I don't know if I'll be motivated to complete them. I've been working on OSGIC since november and most of the code so far is inside OS Voxel Tools SVN (at vxlseiii14). The program itself demands a shitload of effort and it will take ages to be done. Hopefully, I'll speed up once my unversity is over. Anyway, I've used the date april 1st as a way to promote my ideas safely. If I manage to do them, great! Otherwise, it is an aprils fools joke .
