I guess this is the right place, since there is no TD editing section I can see.

Anyway, basically my problem is that the editor crashes whenever I try and load a map. The only way it doesnt crash is if I make a new map in the same theatre as the one im trying to load, but then I cant select buildings/vehicles etc to place without it crashing again.

Any ideas? Anyone got a more stable version (seems very crashable)? Is there a better map editor?

I think the solution to this problem is to put any maps you want to open in the CCMap folder. Then, start the editor and open the map from there.

As far as I know, linking ccmap to the .ini extension and trying to open missions like that makes ccmap crash on startup.

Thanks. Thats fixed the opening crash, but it still crashes when selecting any structures/vehicles to place. I can place new terrain fine, create waypoints, team types etc.

Have you tried using a "fresh" copy of the conquer.mix? Win95 comp mode?

And windows 95 compatibility seems to have fixed it. #Silly I feel like an idiot, thanks though.

Strangely enough I did try using a fresh conquer.mix straight from my CD a few days ago and CCMap gave an error saying it was a Covert Ops file. Rolling Eyes

EDIT: Argh, still does it sometimes, except this time it did it in the middle of mapping!!

What are the error messages like? Think you could cap a few for me? If they contain offsets that is...

as for the mixfiles... you need the version from the DOS CDs for it to work. Ironically, the actual covert ops version is exactly the same, so that one DOES work.

CnCWorld.org has a full version, with all necessary mixfiles included, and with a small update to fix the problem where the Unload unit command crashed the editor becausre it was unknown.
(the Unload command can be used to make an MCV deploy at mission start. Not too useful, but usable nonetheless)

I dont know what you mean. This is in the editor and not TD, plus it just crashes and then has to be closed for not responding.

You should update your mapping/editing guide then. #Tongue

...I have...

http://nyerguds.arsaneus-design.com/cncstuff/cctxt/ccmanual.txt

In the Units section:
Quote:
Unload: For MCVs: this makes them deploy to C.Y.

And the date stamp on the file says 05-Jun-2008, so I added that quite a while ago.

In fact, I have since edited the code in C&C95 that handles the Unload command... lousy WW programmers added a "can transport infantry" option that can be enabled on any unit, but both the Load and Unload commands refused to work unless the unit requesting them was the APC Rolling Eyes (well, or for Unload, the MCV, of course, but that special case was then linked on to the Deploy code)
That silly restriction is fixed now. Any unit (besides the MCV of course) can be converted to a troop transport now Very Happy
