Yeah, Icy has it in his MSN name. TBH I don't really care, not out of rudeness but a mario RTS just doesn't seem my thing. I like my platformers cartoony and my RTSs not. (Hence dislike of RA3. What? It was an obvious conclusion? what do you expect me to do, nimbly skirt round the issue? sod off. Plain and to the point.)

The mod really doesn't make sense to me (just my opinion)

Yeah, but I guess it can be pretty unique, and,if Icy manages to make a good AI and atmosphere, well, hands down.

So well... since mod seems to be back online, the Icy will come back as well, I presume?

Same:

RA3 + even more cartooniness/sillyness of mario + at derelict studios

= Of no interest to me.

I lost interest after I heard about the engine switch, so yeah. Also, I have known about this for some time, Icy and I used to talk a lot and TAKTICS was constantly brought up.

I'm exactly the same. Cartoonyness is not exactly my favorite thing, I prefer modern day realism (If anyone says anything about TI, I will rip your heads off).

Seen it, talked with him about it, and got flamed for something I did apparently. Or in other words: I don't give a shit anymore. He's thinks he's so great >_>

Haha, it's laughable how much attitudes towards this project have changed. I must agree, though.

There are some good mods at DS, most are inactive though. Blitz 3 has a slight case of DNF syndrome (there is a leak apparently though. Apparently), AAOW is frozen for good, the YR mods are about as dead as T-rex and then there's MEC2 of Command and mediocre 3.

Fallout Studios would be the right place,I think.

Icy was always a bit too...well...I rarely understood some of his point of views regarding originality.

Anything that isn't a total conversoin based on a new story/adaption of something king Icy of "I say what's origial or not" has consecreted is an "abomination" an "Insult unto mine brain". Until he does something for the community who is he to declare what's good or bad? D can be a moron-hater because he's making Ares (v194 is cool actually, upgrades as prereqs, spotlights WIP, SWs costing money etc etc). But that's not the point. Even if he had released "ZOMGUBEREPICPATCH" that made all your infantry have personalities and let you do whatever the ztype you wanted he'd still not have the right to go around heaping shit on whatever he wanted.

The whole community is based around constructive criticism, saying "your mod is an unoriginal piece of shit" is about on a par as "lolol I HAS A SIG!".

i think most of you got their points...
nevertheless the engine switch was imho the best thing they could do.
and if you take a look at moddb, you´ll see that most mods for ra3 are adding tons of new sides or stupidly adding new useless units...so this is gonna be unique #Tongue

I also think it fits to the RA3 engine... Rolling Eyes
but realistic is better than cartoony. #Tongue

But I like cartoony to a certain extent. Serious AND cartoony is the best thing there is.

Realism has it's place. But after seeing a billion WW2 games and a million modern realistic games, don't you want a change every once in a while?

Besides, it's easier to give character to a cartoon than to something realistic (you have more freedom).

Modern War and WWII are overdone. But a mix of cold war, WWII and INANITY puls 50s scifi? there is only one. It is the holy grail of crazy RTS, the balance between funny and serious, weird yet strangely familiar... It is the one, the only. Red Alert (any who dare mention the usurpers shold be killed like Kukov).
