TAKTICS is back, now for RA3, at Derelict Studios!
Subject description: All your base are belong to shyguys!
After a long time on hiatus, TAKTICS has been resurrected, thanks to the release of the mod SDK for Red Alert 3. For years, it used to be a total conversion for Yuri's Revenge hosted here, but the engine was too much limited for their ambitions, so they switched to Red Alert 3.
TAKTICS stands for "The Awakened Kingdom - The Initial Chaotic Strike" and it is a total conversion set in the Mario universe, where the bring the Mushroom Kingdom, the Koopa Troop and 8 bits nightmare (think of Super Mario Bros 2 monsters) to fight on terrains inspired on Mario World and other Mario games. You can say that about a lot of mods. However, I don't know how you can say "Oh, it's just Taktics". This is an entire engine switch they've done, with hardly any documentation on modding the RA3 engine. Icy figured out everything on his own and got these ingame. This is a huge shift and is pretty awesome.

Right, so, have you played RA3? Everyone out there goes "MEh RUd Alert THREE" and cries about EA ruining their entire lives. If you've played RA3 you'd know it's fun, and modding is like 10x better.

Multiplayer should be fun, but campaign is pretty silly... at least if it was possible to turn down those lame co-commanders, few babes are hard to stay (annoying Zhena - her name is similar to male name Zhenya, Allied briefing crybabe), lame AI, boring missions (wait one hour for yours spies), childish poor soviet jokes (lame "oh, how many soups I will have for those money" instead of "great, after war I will have big new flat and new car as the bonus from the party... and those Allieds are going to hell").
However, the modding potential is high and I thing Taktics under RA3 will be great... _________________

I got it free off a friend (5 installs for the price of 1), there is a chance someone will make a good mod for it, I'd to D/l a tool to deauthorise it, SecuRAPE is a pain to get off and as I can't be bothered I may as well reap the rewards, as well as that I don't hate EA. i hate the stupid bastards who decided that RA2's style was better than RA1's. _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. The sites are not flaming here, Phoib. The major complaints I've seen in the recent topics about TAKTICS are the switch to the RA3 engine and Icyson's attitude in this forum in the recent months, which was really not good at all.
Also, all the opinions posted here represents individuals and not the site.

The e-mail address you supplied does not match the one listed for that username.
It's always the users that flame. The sites themselves don't bother that much, they generally have better things to do. And some are better in one aspect then others. If I want a good RA2 mod, I'll be here.
It's just disappointing to see that RA2 Taktics was welcomed, while RA3 Taktics is booed away. What they do with the game is nice, and couldn't be done in RA2. QUICK_EDIT

The Autobombs don't change colour and neither do the Pilot Guys driving them.
The random colour thing will be exclusive to the first tiered infantry for more variety, as well as giving the RA2 palette the middle finger. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

The helmets were placed on just for that purpose, as well as pockets on the belt (there are 2 more on the unit's backside).
If that isn't enough, I could always make the shoes 'remappable' as well to make it more obvious.
Other lower tiered units will also share the new added on 'armoured' look, not only for team colour but make all units looks like they are part of an army and not just a 'random Mario character with a gun' like the RA2/YR units. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
