Yay, I graduated today!
I know hold an associate degree in liberal arts! What can I do with it? Pretty much nothing, with the exception of transferring it and furthering my education.
But it was a big day for me. I've been taking these college classes for the past 2 years while still technically in high school, and I have gotten enough credits to obtain my associates before I've graduated highschool. I'll be graduating high school some time next month, but I think I'll skip that ceremony and have em mail me my paper. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
Damn... I'm so not in the right area/hobby, I really shouldn't have graduated... But luckily I went to a vocational school and graduate (They pretty much passed me without looking at my grades. ).
Well, as i said I was still in highschool, so thy had a little say in what classes I took, and they basically made me take a bunch of classes that I couldn't really focus together, English, history, math, science. I ended up taking four classes that fall under english, three under history, four under math, and four under science. Plus a slew of other classes that I was interest in (philosophy, psycology etc). So in the end liberal arts was the only thing that I could get with the wide array of classes.
Basically Liberal Arts means a general education as opposed to something specialized. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

Congratulations, although (no offence, rather enviousness) this seems to be rather weaker form of Bc . But still, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
From your description it looks like some form of grammar school addon (like something like "Introduction to the String Theory")
It's neccessary to take at least 3-4 years on proper technical/medical Bc degree (although Bc degree isn't enough), although few subjects in the first year of technical university are just more or less repeating from parts of the Math or the Physics from grammar school (like: differentiation, integration, infinite series; el.-mag. waves; electrical networks).
Well, I wish you to graduate completely and get some good job anyway.
I will "wait" 4 years in school till that economical stagnation ends. _________________

what?
In America, you go to grammar school from ages like 5-13, and high school is 14-18. They may have schools inbetween those, like 'middle school' and 'junior high', but there are 12 grade levels, and those constitute the public school section. Next is the college level, and you get your associate degree, followed by bachelor degree, and masters and phd if you want to go that far. While in the 11th and 12th grade of highschool, I opted to take all my classes at a community college, and was able to take 20 odd classes and get my associate degree-before even graduating highschool. Call it bullshit if you want, but I did it. Now for me the next step is to transfer to another university, where I will be taking pre-med. In a few years I'll be going off med school, and after that who knows, open my own office, or maybe work for someone for a little bit to gain experience. I've wanted to be a proffessor of philosophy, but my parents disagree, and since they are footing the bill, I guess I'll be going med. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. Uhh you don't have to go where your folks yank you in college.
They don't have to foot the bill. Likewise you gotta grow up and get away from them sometime.
There are many options for continuing education with few/no strings attached. Among them, student loans (if applicable), scholarships, and financial aid programs. QUICK_EDIT
congrats DaFool. I opted out of taking the PSEO courses that I could have taken to do pretty much what you did.
So again congrats! When is your actual graduation day for High School?
Mine is June 7th and next week is the seniors last few days.
As for me I will hopefully be going into being a Biology Major and perhaps further that into some specific field of biology if I stick with it. However, money is the big issue there since I'll be having to take out loans and pay them back myself. So I may end up having to take a year off before starting just to get a small head start on the money situation. Luckily where I'll be going I can commute from my house and it's not too expensive, so that should help a lot. _________________ Kalistia Crestland (2)

well, part of me wants to get into that field anyways, yet another part wants me to stick with my passion. Although, after taken a philosophy class, we didn't spend very much time on any philospher who I felt was interesting, so maybe it was the proffessor, or maybe it was what he was suppoe to teach. Anyways, I can always read and write at my own liesure.
Ixith, if money is a problem, I suggest you try a community college to try to knock some of your prerequisite classes off. They may not have the reputation, and I know some people look down on them, but they are cheap, and accredited, plus they usually have smaller class sizes and all that stuff. The one I went to offered a wide arrangment of classes and at many different times, it's prefect if you want to work in the day and take night classes, or vice versa.
I'm just going to enjoy the summer for now. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
I'm still working, I'll just not worry about the future. If the summer is like today, it's gonna be wicked hot, and I work outside mostly.... Part of me wants to paint instead, but my buddies are working outdoors. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

Erm, I was tired and angry on many things, maybe I said some harsh things, so sorry then.
It's really good you did it.
Anglosaxon education system is different (Germanic education system is also different)... these differences can be confusing (see Banshee's post)
School system in the Czech and the Slovak republics (without special or specialized schools, yr means age of the, pupil/student can be older a bit):
elementary school: usually 6yr - 15yr
- read, write, gardening/crafts, History of the Country, Music Education*, Art Education*, Physical Training*, Czech/Slovak (Hungarian) Language* (grammar, pen), Math**, History**, Geography*, Biology**, Physics (Science)**, Chemistry**, foreign language(s) (English, German)*, Civics**, Informatics**, in CZ there are some new lame subjects like Education About Health, Ethic Education.
** - higher level of elementary school (6th -9th class)
Teachers thous pupils (teachers use 2nd person of the singular when they talk with pupils, in later education plural is used - like 'they' (Sie) in German)
----------"Medium Schools" (High Schools in America)-----------
Grammar School ("Gymnázium" in Czech):
8-year Grammar School (many politicians wants cancel them):
12yr - 19yr
4-year Grammar School: 15yr - 19yr
both: Academic style of education, each 3-14 days students have to write an exam from some 20-30 A4 written pages of theory (mere theory isn't enough in Math or Physics(Science)).
Subjects marked by * and **, on the "medium school" level (last 4 years) there are: the Principle Of Social Sciences (philosophy, sociology, ethics, theology, they replace the Civics), 2nd foreign language (usually German, Spanish, French, Russian), compulsory optional Latin or compulsory optional descriptive geometry (one of those 2).
Level of the education on grammar schools is sometimes very high, sometimes not although these schools should be elite among "medium schools". I was "the luckier" one, our professors were strict and they took subject matter deeply.
On grammar school teachers are called professors.
Last 2 years of the grammar school students learn more deeply for 4 subjects from which they make their leaving examination - extra lessons, extra subject matter (students have still other subjects, too).
These 4 subjects are: Czech (/Slovak) language, 3 chosen - I had Math, English, IT.
The subject matter of last 2 years consist from things which sometimes were taught on university 20 years ago! Especially in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math, IT.
Abiturents have to go to University or College before they can get some apropriate job.
Specialized "medium schools": industrial, machinery, economical, IT, ...
15yr - 19yr
These schools are specialized in some area and their graduates can get a job without further education, of-course they usually go to university.
Training college - 15yr - 20yr - craftsmen, chefs, masons, etc.
College - like nurse college or Police Academy (detectives were degradated, before few years detectives had to have (tech.) university education)
--------------"high school" - University, Technical University-----------------
In some ways easier than grammar school (long summer holidays, somewhere you have to go just to lab lessons and exams), in most harder
(2 test from subject, hard homeworks).
3 years Bc degree (not suitable enough for getting a job),
2 years master degree (technical ends with Ing. - "Engineer" , teoretical ends with Mgr - [magister]),
follows doctor degree and so, but in many branches graduates have to take "test work"*** to gain experience which takes few years.
*** I can't remember that word now, in any language _________________

Odd system.
We go:
Primary 4-11
Secondary 11-16
College until year you turn 18 or finish (2 years, 1 for AS levels then 1 for A2s)
University (IDK how long, depends on courses and whether you choose to extend your degree and stuff).
And more congratulations dafool _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT

Congratulations Dude, thats awesome, for me right now its a bit different, Society is trying to shove everything in my face right now, like getting a driving license, getting a car, getting a first job, intimacy, those sorts of teenager things, I am now finishing the 10th grade (sophomore year) in 2 weeks, and I have mixed feelings, Idk, I don't know how I will ever pass Jr year with the way I handled things this year, I mean, I thought throughout the year that HW shouldn't exist, and I showed that by only spending about 4 hours on HW this entire school year, but I didn't fail one class, wierd huh?, I don't know, I guess I am a bit of a rebel when it comes to school, and school related work. I really am having a hard time coping with everything, the only coping strategies it seems I have, are to run away from problems and not try to deal with them, which is a very bad thing, And I really hate everything around me, I guess its just tolerance problem, but I cannot tolerate the slightest things that may annoy me or pester me, I guess I am at a fork in the road in my life right now, where I don't know what I want to do after high school, I know I won't be able to handle college, I was thinking about the military, but I hate people yelling at me, and with the air force, you pretty much have to study just as hard as college, and most times have a bachelors degree to become a pilot.
I am really sick and tired of what life has thrown at me these past couple years, and I know it won't end for a while... _________________

You put children to school way too early. Our system goes like this:
Primary (lower level) 7-12
Primary (higher level) 13-15
Secondary (or vocational, depends where you want to continue. You can even skip this and go straight into working life) 16-18 (or 19+, depends how early you decide to do the written exams for higher certificate)
University (Same as Albrecht's) _________________

In the basic there are minimal differences between school systems, because after Kindergarden:
there are 5 years of really basic school (read (unless you've learnt that before*), write, some other basic facts (history of your country, continents, etc.))
next 4 years are about learning intermediate basics of subjects like Math, Geography, etc.
then follows optional High School (in US terms) which takes some 4 years (most of them prepares students on work, some of them prepares them for University (4-year "secondary school"))
After this level graduates can go to work or university (sublevels 3yr + 2yr + 4yr)...
Foreign languages can be learnt on different difficulties in any of these levels (mostly English, from Kindergarden to University)...
*Some Kindergardens learn children to read.
-------------
Our school system is similar to that Finnish (although those first two are merged in one with possibility of transfering after first level to 8-year secondary school called Gymnázium which prepares students for uni). _________________

3-6(/7)/5-6(/7)(depends on how your family decides): Kindergarten
6/7-12:Primary education(school)
12-15:"Gimnaziu"(that's the way we call it,you can call it secondary school)
15-17/18/19(Depends on how many years you wanna make): High school
17/18/19-X:University/Faculty(We call it Faculty).
X=years which depends from faculty to faculty. It can even take 8 years for some(like dentist or doctor, but its pretty usual to take even more, even if you wanna become an engineer).
It takes years, here the principle is quantity, not quality. They don't care if people won't have the slightest idea at the age of 18 what radical/root of a number is. QUICK_EDIT
Tell me about it... By the time I was five I was stuck in a shithole with a hundred other kids and expected to care.
It's no wonder I turned out a cynical, atheist bastard when you see how crappy society is from age 5. _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT
