China Generals sidebar in RA2

Making new sidebars that don't completely suck is a lot harder than it seems at first. So rather than operate entirely from scratch, I decided to copy and paste elements from the Generals (China) UI and create a sidebar that way. I'm not completely finished yet (need to figure out the bottom bar stuff, and the radar animation will be a pain in the ass) but when I do finish I'll be sure to post the sidec04.mix file (possibly without the wallpaper part, since that's a separate pallete anyway).

Anyway, how's it look so far? I know there's a lot of dead space at the bottom; I don't really know what to put there.

Looks alright, but shouldn't there be "¥" instead of "$"? Razz

Eh, the Soviet sidebar doesn't use "руб" so I think I'll just keep it as the dollar sign.

Eh, I'm not into modding Generals right now; it doesn't run well on my Eee.

Anyway, I just realized I don't have the right corkscrew set up to tile properly. I'll need to stretch it out (the corkscrew is in 7 pixel increments and side2.shp is in 50 pixel increments).

Tell me about it. I've made a good four sidebars in total, whilst they've all came out excellently, they took so long to make, and SHPing them isn't much fun either... So many things to be careful of.

The scroll buttons (and tab buttons) are set up to just not show up at all when they're not available. I think the effect is pretty neat.

(The mod is just something I'm messing around with privately; no way I can release it unless somebody tracks down Eagle so I can get permission to use his buildings, and believe me I've tried; he friggen dropped off the face of the earth).
