This has me confused. last night i put the images and the hva files into a cache01 file and put it into my ra2 directory, but is not reading it i think. but after that i took the vxl and hva files out of the cache01 file and just simply put them into the ra2 directory and it worked. So with that said what good are these files. and im guessing the expand file is for new terrain?

No. Ecache Adds, Expand overrides. there are a few things that only work in one type, but bugger me if can remember them! Laughing (Protip for people of "other" orientations, no I can't remember XD) #Tongue

There is a load order in the game, with mix files higher up the order essentially overriding mix file lower in the order. I can't remember the order (it might be documented on modenc), but files of the same name in expand(md)##.mix, ecache*.mix and elocal*.mix will all override most of the files in the default mix files.

it doesn't matter unless its a replacement file e.g. FV in which case put it in expand

It'd be best to use just expand or expandmd. Even though I've used ecachemd to replace old SHPs and it overrode the old images.

NO
1: It'd be effing huge
2: random pointlessness
3: Doees that count as messing with stock files?

it wouldnt be huge if ya only use what you need at the time, just add and remove with xcc mix editor, and it shouldnt be considered messing with stock files cause I only extracted it, which is a copy of it. It should just override the original thats all.

Why would you want that, I always copy my files from a mod folder so I have everything organized, I woul kill myself if even one of them was as big as local.mix, remember it have TS voxels as well as RA2.
