I extracted the fence file ctfncp, erased the originals and remade with my bamboo fences frame by frame. I then saved it and put it into a expand.mix file but the fences will not appear in FA2, it justshows me something like 0xf1. I havent messed with overlay before so i dont know if im even doing it right, can somebody help?

I posted here because fences are shp and shp is media, but now that i think about it, i guess it could have been posted in RA2 editing, my bad.

I already knew about your donkey kong mod, i was just being a smart @$$.

So can we please get back to the main topic. I,m able to build my fences in game like walls, but FA2 wont read them for me to manually place them on the map. they are in a .mix file and like i said the game reads them but FA2 dont.

Hmmm, I'm not sure. Are you using RA2, or YR? If you are using YR (at least, this is what I did) you expand.mix needs to be named expandmd.mix. (or something like that)

If that doesn't work, I dunno. I haven't touched an ini file or anything mod related in a while.

The wall is from RA2,IIRC...

But you might be correct.Also,try putting it directly into the YR/RA2 folder.It might just work.For me it does...

I'm modding stock RA2, basically what I did was etxracted the cafenp file which is the prison fences, deleted the stock fences and added my bamboo fences. I have put them in a expand.mix file and threw it into the RA2 directory, I am able to build them during game play but thats not what I want. I want to be able to manually place them with FAYR1.02 but FA wont read them for me to place them. If I select my fences in FA it just shows me 0xf1. Is there something maybe I should do different with the save mode in OS Shp Builder?

That occurs when using MadHQ's new terrain and ore for me. The ore shows as code.

Just ignore it, it turns out fine ingame.

cool beans, thanks M7 it worked just fine, although it sucks you cant tell what your placing but good enough for me. Wish I would have known this way earlier. But there still has to be a way to get FA to see the image maybe a tweek in the FAData.ini file. I'll check into it. Thanks......

yeah if there was a good way to get stuff to turn up in FA2 Id be thrilled- I think you can only edit stock stuff for it to show up. For a new terrain palette I had to compact it in the ra2md mix for it to show up in the map editor.

Well I was able to edit the FAData.ini and now my fences show up in FA2.
just a very simple thing i did, they had the fences listed under [ignore buildings RA2] so all i did was commented them out, and now they appear. Wierd huh?

@Robopope, I disagree about the stock stuff only, cause FA2 reads and shows everything I have made so far, except the fences, which it does now. all my planes, vehicles, buildings, terrain, and trees all show up in FA2.
